Dilemma E89 v Lotus Evora - opinions welcomed

Ruth, you've got other bases covered by your other cars - I'd go Lotus for that special drive but the E89 35is sounds like it's got a wide envelope.

Just curious if a decision has been reached yet ? If you're coming to Scotland do let us know - I guess Edinburgh ?
Good luck ! :driving:

Demonstator was great, but deal on used one didn't feel quite good enough. Close to buying, but left without it.

Was a good day anyway - having the keys to a £70k sportcar and being told to go enjoy yourself and bring it back in 4-5 hours was nice!

Yes Edinburgh have a nice looking selection - especially if we fancied a facelift MY12 for £48k!

So what's the next move ?
ZC for 35Is & trade the Cayman for gen2 997  :)

I have to face up to the trauma of parting with my zed first. I may have originally bought it with the intention of keeping it for a similar length of time to the average Mr Wilks car, but that was nearly 5 years ago. hooning with two cars that are at around 130k made mine feel like a low miler. And the paintwork on the red Evora was worse than my zed - which has a few stone chips but is otherwise perfect

The Evora has the unusual ability to handle really well on country roads, but also be a nice commute.

Was very close to a purchase, but I am a woman so it's my prerogative to change my mind - repeatedly :headbang:

You sure about that? :D

No

So update at Mr Wilks request, blame him if I'm boring you

Can't decide whether to buy an Evora ot Evora S at the moment, have decided we want extended leather, and must have reversing camera

Some cars, including the one we nearly bought in Leeds have had their roof wrapped to make them look like the Sports Racer, feels a bit like the whole sticking an M badge on a non M to me (costs a bit more  ) and has put me off those.

Probably going to view a white one (S) next weekend. I've seen one in Burnt orange I quite like but it's an auto :o

Have watched How it's made Dream Cars on Lotus twice now and I'm quite fascinated - they are definitely hand made :)

...you've probably seen it already!

Only just seen it thanks.

Lotus seem to have responded to issues as they have built these cars, so buying the latest year you can afford seems sensible.

Obviously it's not German build quality and the interior isn't amazing, but the driving and handling means you forgive the rest :D

There is also an Evora 400 on the way too with 400hp (+50 on the Evora S) but that's likely to be £75k!

I'd go for an S Ruth and as the article suggests, one of the later cars. Happy hunting :driving:

So, it appears that buying cars is harder than selling them

The week can be summed up in colours & locations

Tuesday was white in Dorset an S fully specced, and already sold
Wednesday was Blue in Edinburgh but no tech pack so no camera, cruise or sat nav
Thursday was yellow in Kent - then realised retrofitted sat nav and thus also no camera
Friday was Red at Silverstone, a bit older not S but fully specced - sounded great
Saturday we set off to Silverstone to find the customer had incorrectly described his car - not fully specced so off the list.

On the plus side we learned a lot more about the cars today, and got to sit in the "Essex " which is really nice and apparently a bargain at £68k :o

We are very lucky to not have to trade in, which means we can plane or train to these dealers. And as Bing has already discovered there's always a chance of me getting in touch to see if I can find a willing volunteer to go look at these cars for me :-P

 if the one that's nearly the same colour as yours was a manual then I would have done

That's painful Taz, at least we were at a dealers so got to look round lots of cars

I h-a-t-e looking for second hand cars, the opinion of the owner is that something is perfect - when you get there it is awful.
