Dilema - stick or twist

Hi guys,

Looking for some advice. I am thinking of selling the Z after 2 years of ownership but there is nothing 2nd hand that interests me that isn't atleast double the price.

Ive therefore been keeping a close eye on new lease deals as there seems to be some crackers out there at the moment. I've seen a decent deal on an m235i that is very tempting. It will obviously cost me more over the 2 year deal than my zed but I've been reading some great reviews about them.

I have also been thinking about house purchases and now that I'm 25 really need to start thinking about this a little more. I could get a deposit together in about 12 months I if I keep my zed for another year and then get something cheaper after this. If I get an m235i then will probably need to wait for 2 years as wouldn't want a big mortgage and the cost of a lease coming out at the same time.

I do fancy a change but not sure if I will regret it. I still go out for blasts in the Z and it still puts a massive smile on my face. Little pic of the zed below

If it was me I'd keep the Z until I needed to sell for practicality reasons or if I got bored (not likely)

If you don't need to sell then don't sell.

Don't do it. You've not said you're bored with the zed, plus why go for practicality before you absolutely have to ? The 2 isn't really a replacement for a Z4C... a DD perhaps ;o)

TBH seeing as you have such a disposable income I would get the 235i. Youre young, have no kids or a mortgage - so enjoy it while you still can! Once you have a family and a mortgage its pretty hard to do anything you like.

Depends what you want out of life. You can't have every thing & neither can you take it with you. Me at that age I'd be keeping the Zed as you clearly still enjoy it. The 235i sounds like an excuse to blow money that's burning a whole in your pocket.

Changing to the 235 will mean it takes the OP longer to secure a deposit.

Keep the zed and get you deposit quicker.

Houses are better investments than cars.

A Z4 ///M though would not depreciate much over 2 years though so could be a very good compromise

Thanks for the response guys.

I think it is a little bit of a case of change for the sake of change but I would like to try something else whilst I can as this is the only real sports car I have owned.

Perhaps a z4m convertible isn't a bad shout as will be less than double the price of my car and hopefully prices will stay firm. Hmmmmmm decisions

Time to get on the ladder jonny . your car will lose minimal value in the next 2 / 3 years which can 't be said of most cars
Keep the Z & plough some cash in to here if you aren't already http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/help-to-buy-ISA

M235i is quicker in a straight line but less engaging than a Z4 Coupe. Would be more refined though.

Agree you should go for house first. I don't know what it's like for you but we are paying barely more in mortgage than we were in rent so it didn't affect car budgets.
