For those in the know, and those who have helped over the last 3 years with being beta testers and provided a sample phone for Android development, the product has now been officially launched and being sold on www.digi-gate.co.uk

The input and help from some of the guys on here has been gratefully received.

The last few months have been manic, hence having been a bit quiet here - probably appreciated :D

The interest in the product is coming from areas I had not quite expected, but at least different industries see different uses for it.

For Z4-forum and xdrivers members only, we give a 10% discount on the product but you have to contact me direct via the forum as this discount is not available elsewhere.

I have attached a few slides that we use for presentation purposes, but the full info is available on the website.

Is this a DIY retro-fit or a professional install at the gate? Does it work with other products such as the BPT, ACT, Comelit, Paxton etc? What needs to be installed at the gates and does it include integration with the CCTV system?

Does it integrate with any home automation products as well?

So many questions, guess what I do?

Hopefully I'll get a new garage door at some point an then be in touch , wish I'd got the aptitude for stuff like this , looks good

Installation is plug and play. DIY retrofit is easy for most as there are only 2 cables to connect to a gate or garage (using a pulse signal so usually to the "push" button contacts on a garage control for example) and a connection to the internet via ethernet, wifi or a dongle.

gannet from this site had a slightly different garage unit, which has an up and down button so that required 2 more cables to be connected to his control unit. On Horman units it is only ever two wires.

For gates, the unit is either installed in the gate control box which could be in an out house like it is in my installation, or for some of the others, it has been in the house where the push button has been installed (near the intercom for example).

The control is from the phone app, web app using a encrypted VPN connection tunnel to the digiGate unit, or direct from a GSM call to the unit.

For gates, what makes the design different (besides that the gates open via GPS location distance when you arrive at the house), is that you can control how long the gates open for example. I have the setting to 4 minutes for example which gives me plenty of time to get the car and drive away, whilst others may have it shorter or longer than I have it. We currently have builders at the house who have restricted access to the gates via a call they make from their phone which is valid between 9 and 5, Monday to Friday, for 2 weeks only. After that, their access is no longer working.

There is no connection to other products that you listed, but with the concept that the digiGate unit pulses the control, it works with any other automation that is currently in place already.

The units have an optional camera in there which I have in my garage so I can see the state of the door. It does not integrate with general CCTV equipment as such as I have not found a requirement for that one yet.

We are working on Alexa integration, and as the units are all updatable, when that is available everyone's units will automatically have that feature.

As we have developed this from scratch, we own all the software applications and APIs. I am integrating it at the moment into ring.com so that when someone rings the gate bell, you have the option to open the gates.

You are only 40 minutes or so from me, so I can always demo the features to you in more detail as at our home, we have it installed for multiple garages and our gates and garden lights.
