Differential question

Will a diff from a 2.0 manual be ok on a manual 3.0 si coupe? Ratios are fairly similar. 3.38 on the 2.0 vs 3.46 on the coupe. Just wanted to check wether the 3.0 si diff would be beefier to handle the extra power? And would they be a straight swap between convertible and coupe? Thanks, Craig

No you shouldn't because the 2.0 diff uses a 168mm crown wheel and most Z4s use a 188mm crown wheel. See the table below:

I’m pretty sure this is what Jingle has been running in his as he did an engine swap from a 2.0 to a 3.0SI. He changed the diff last month but until then I don’t think he had any issues?
I would see it as a short term thing though.
