Difference between standard Sport seats and M-Sport seats

If anyone is still wondering what is the difference between the Sport seats fitted as standard to SE models and the M-Sport seats fitted to Sport models, here they are side by side. The M-Sports hug tighter and on first acquaintance do seem as though they will more comfortable on a long journey.

Good comparison.
I sat in a set of the MSport seats for the first time on Friday and proceeded to do 200 miles in them.
Whilst first impressions are how snug they hold you round the sides, for me the biggest improvement is the longer seat base and the support under the backs of my knees.

You can see how much longer the seat bases are, even without the thigh supports extended. This does make it harder to get them in!

That's a great photo - it really highlights the difference between the two.

My 3 Series is an SE so has seats similar to the standard Z4 ones and to be fair they are fine on a long trip, but for a B-Road blast in a sports car the M-Sports are so much better! But I don't use my 3 Series that way, that's what the Z4 is for.

The M seats are great but I really want that cool hide away first aid kit.

Doesn't your car have one then? :o

They were a standard fitment under the passenger seat on all UK E85/86s and E46 3 Series.

I bought a 2nd one and fitted it under my driver's seat for a bit more storage as Z4s don't have much of that!

My previous coupe had the M-seats ánd the first-aid box hidden under the passenger seat, so surely you could have both? 8)

Yeah, m-seats doesn't prevent you being able to have the first aid box.
My coupe has m-seats and passenger side first aid box (and fire extinguisher under the drivers seat).

I just realised how much I need an extinguisher under mine

First decent journey today - 50 miles each way with some traffic. Definitely more supportive and more comfortable, but harder to get out of in a tight parking space.

That's why the driver's side bolsters get worn! :(

But they are much better at any other time. :D

Had it installed as a requirement for trackday at Spa.
(Which incidentally I didn't get to go to in the end so turned out unnecessary expenditure. Does look cool tho).

Hmmm, I guess a previous owner removed it or maybe NA Z4M's didn't come with it. Well I have something new to hunt for.

A reasonable set if you want to upgrade or change colour. Manual and non-heated though.
