Difference between Production Date and First Registration

Ok call me anal but this is bugging me a little, my car was originally a BMW owned car and the difference between the

production date: 2006-10-05 and the
first registered date : 09/03/2007

is 5 months and 5 days. I know cars made to order are much less but does anyone else have such a significant gap between their dates?

I wonder if my car was sitting around a BMW for a while or was in the states for a while..

That's quite a small range.

My old car was Aug 06 build and Dec 06 Reg.

MY ///M was built Jan 06 and May 06 Reg.

That are one or two cars on here with 18 months between.

I know that the dealer registered my first one to meet their target only, otherwise the gap would have been bigger.

I think my Maldives roadster was similar - built Oct 04 reg in March 05

Mine is January 06 and registered in March 06 iirc

How do you find out the production date?

Or just look on the inside the engine bay on the passenger (UK) wing by the strut.

Looks as though I may have been worrying for nothing .. would be interesting to see if any other Thorne cars had a 5 month gap..
