Difference between onboard computer and without onboard computer

Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but I don't really know the difference between onboard computer versus not when shopping around for parts. I called in to source a part and they asked me if it was with or without an onboard computer. I presumed with but now I am not sure. What computer is it talking about?
 
Depends on what parts you were asking for.

The OBC is what shows the trip consumption, odometer, miles to empty, etc.

If you were asking for new disks/pads/tyres/wheels/body panels, then the OBC is irrelevant.
 
RealOEM is your friend for part numbers. OBC shouldn’t make any difference for a steering column.
