Diff speed sensor question

Can't find the answer anywhere so...........anybody?

I need to find out the number of 'trigger points' inside the diff (Torsen) which the speed sensor picks up and translates into pulses.

The engine is an M54 (3 litre) and the diff ratio is 3.07/1 (I think).

I am leaning toward just one, but don't have an answer.

Doesn’t answer your question exactly but are you meaning to feed the speedo? On the Z4 it uses the signal from the rear left abs sensor.

On the Z3 the speed sensor for the speedo is plugged into the diff (that much I have found out).
I need to know how many bolts (or magnets, or whatever) are used to pick up the rotations, so I can do a (complicated) calculation to program my new speedo, as it is generic so you have to tell it how to calculate the speed.

It seems to be one of those things that no-one knows, except one design engineer in Germany somewhere who is too old to be on the internet, or is deceased, or is keeping it secret!

From what I can gather (online forum searches), it should be just one. But if it's two, or three it makes a massive difference. I don't want to do the 'trial and error' as once the speedo is 'in' it is a PITA to get it out again (and again).
