I've always been against wasting anything (but without living the hair shirt lifestyle) but it always amazes me how much people can't control their spending (while often moaning they're broke.) Short wearing in mid winter with heating systems cranked up to red hot. Constantly running washing machines because wearing something more than once is actually impossible. Etc etc.
I'm not really going anywhere with this but I honestly don't think Joe Soap gives a fig for the environment if they can't do basic self control.
I agree 100%. We, as a race, are utterly doomed judging by the way that many behave IMO. Never mind the cost implications. I know too many people who have completely the wrong priorities in life (obviously IMO). People who drive blinged up Range Rovers, holiday 5 times a year, yet heat their (rented) shack of a home by way of an open fire with a back-boiler and burn anything they can lay their hands on (including plywood and treated timber).
On the bright side, though, the planet will be absolutely fine no matter what we do. It's us and most of the other current animals that will be wiped out.
