It's purely because they are idiots*. :roll:MikeyH said:I've noticed more and more diesel drivers parking their vehicles, sitting in them and leaving the engines running for ages like 30 mins sometimes. It's not cold or overly hot. Is there a logical reason for this? Seems odd and antisocial.
It is illegal. The Road Traffic Act 1988 prohibits leaving your engine on when it is not needed. This act enforces Rule 123 of the Highway Code, which states “you must not leave a vehicle’s engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road”.pvr said:Just make it illegal
Which is quite ironic when "the highways dept" vehicles I see are always left with their engines running while the 'hi-vis' jacket brigade have a good chin-wag rather than doing anything constructive. And when they all stop for lunch (each one in a separate van or lorry of course) they all sit there with the engines running, even in Summer!BeeEmm said:It is illegal. Don't know about anyone else, but I find it impossible to drive more than one at a time. So that point is irrelevant.inkey$ said:...but of course we are currently talking on a forum where 99.9% of members own at least two cars,
Think there are a few associated with 'climate change' who would possibly tell you.inkey$ said:Don’t really see what the problem is tbh.
This will no doubt trigger a few here, but I’ll go for it anyway :lol:Pondrew said:Don't know about anyone else, but I find it impossible to drive more than one at a time. Air pollution, noise pollution, vibration felt in nearby houses are just 3, but you won't change, I just know it.inkey$ said:Don’t really see what the problem is tbh.
Then of course it is illegal to hold a mobile phone while parked safely with the engine running and I suspect that you might do that as well.BeeEmm said:Air pollution, noise pollution, vibration felt in nearby houses are just 3, but you won't change, I just know it.inkey$ said:Don’t really see what the problem is tbh.
Hang on a moment, cowboy. I’m not sure we’ve actually met, but clearly you know me in depth. That comment was linked to what I do for 10 mins waiting for somebody in a car when its hot and I want to hear the radio; not how I refuse to understand that its all ultimately planet impacting. My response to the thread originally was to do with people complaining of other car owners sitting there on tickover, when they/we all own at least two cars - one of which is for ‘fun’.BeeEmm said:Air pollution, noise pollution, vibration felt in nearby houses are just 3, but you won't change, I just know it.inkey$ said:Don’t really see what the problem is tbh.
