Here is the thing. Shilton couldn't jump against a very short Argentinian. That's a fact. Laying my own cards on the table I am English but I wore the big badged '78 Scotland shirt with pride.
Diego had troubles with drink, drugs etc..etc. I have seen him absolutely skin both English and Scottish national teams. I should hate him.

But, I really mean this, when I watch youtube clips of the fella I can't hate him. The guy did his thing. The guy did incredible things. I am not gong to say I admire him, absolutely no chance on this earth. But the guy made his mark and he had a talent which was not all god given. I for one will occasionally(as I have done before) type his name in to youtube and watch a bit of football brilliance.

RIP

Bollocks...!! Shilton went for the trajectory of the ball to the head before that little bugger hand balled it....

Bloody Scot..... :poke:

No, I agree. Cheating little Argie......fill in the blanks. But he was a freak of nature. a force of nature even. He mocked us.

He did itโ€™s true. A tiny assin that could out manoeuvre most. A shame he let drink and drugs get the better of him.

Great player no doubt but I can't find any respect as such somehow unlike the Gordon Banks of the footie world.

Always thought he was overshadowed by Pele.

Obviously had his demons to pass away so early in life.

Tim.

Did you join the forum just to post that picture. Very bad taste and an insult to a great footballer.
bit too soon for ya...?

Anyway rather than 'footballer' try cheat, cocaine addict, tax evader, alcoholic, mafia stooge... not exactly a good role model was he...?
