DICE - Will this work?!

Looks the same as I had originally.

Personally I wouldn't bother - I don't rate these units at all, and replaced mine with an Intravee. Each to their own though.

I'm getting really confused! Just spoken to ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk, they say the DICE is good, infact better than the Dension!

I have been looking around and basically I'm confused as to how the DICE links to the Sat Nav...From looking at ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk there is an extra £25 cable required! But I've seen no mention of this on the forums, and also I've spoken to another retailer who said the DICE kit will work with the Nav without anything extra!

Thanks,
Tom

Unless the DICE interface has changed, the display is rubbish on Nav and the screen is locked to an extent (so you can't stay on the Nav map for example - you can switch to it, but it only stays for about 5 seconds, making nav selection very difficult).

I don't remember purchasing an additional cable although I'm not 100% on that.

Dension Icelinks used to be excellent ot sure the gateways are as good so in that respect, the DICE 'may' be better but going on previous experience of these I just don't think they're worth the money or hassle of fitting

Hmm...I'll have another look around before I order! I might end up ordering the DICE without this extra cable and see how it works, then I'll purchase the cable later if needed!

I notice your in sheffield! any chance you'd give me a helping hand fitting the DICE if I struggle?!

Where abouts in Sheffield are you anyways? Not seen your car around before!

Ecclesfield mate. Don't really drive it much around Sheffield though (I work from home). You Sheffield?

Yeah happy to help - the install is pretty straightforward if a little fiddly. As I say, I wouldn't bother if I was you, I'd go for the far superior intravee - also easy enough to fit.

Ecclesfield?! Nice one, not too far from me! Also my mate owns a Take Away in Chapletown ;)

I was looking at the Intravee, But funds are stopping me spending much more than £100! I've only just purchased the Z4 so money is a little tight at the moment! Is the DICE really that bad?! I just want something that will allow for the ipod to play music and for me to be able to change the song and volume from my steering controls...doesnt really matter if the Sat Nav is connected, as long as the song name is displayed somewhere on the radio!!!

Thanks for offering to help too, I'll be in touch if I get stuck!

DICE - hmm. Support is flakey to say the least.

I too have the Intravee kit and support is fantastic, plus you can completely configure the screen layout to what you want to see. If money is tight, put in an Aux kit for £14 first, then put in the Intravee when you can afford it.

In saying that I'm guessing the DICE is really that bad?!

Like I said I just want something that will allow for the ipod to play music and for me to be able to change the song and volume from my steering controls...

If it reall sucks that much then maybe I need to just wait and get the Intravee...

Anyone got the DICE that can comment on this?!

No probs mate - which take away by the way (if you see me you'll realise I'm a fan of takeaways! lol)

The DICE doesn't properly display on the Nav screen either - just get half a title if I remember correctly.

Totally agree with pvr re: AUX to get your music.

I've based my comments on the DICE I originally had - whether the silverline models are any better I don't know. But I lasted about 2 months with my DICE before giving up with it and getting an intravee (although got a decent price at the time due to the exchange rate)

Jasmine House on Station Road ;)

Hmm...I'll have a look into what I'm going to do, but to be honest I'm not keen on the AUX road as it'll end up not been used as I'll not have control of the iPod on the steering wheel etc...
