DICE MediaBridge opinion/review

What are the downfalls? I can't really see any?
I guess 9/10 times the phone will be answered before the caller ID has been read out.

I don't believe there are any competitors that do the same thing?
 
What seems to happen is that the phone itself gives one ring, then sets off the caller ID announcement, at which stage you can answer by pressing the track up button on the head unit.
I am happy with mine, the fact that it integrates with the head unit, is hidden away, gives BT music off the iPhone, and can be used for calls is good for me. I am sure you wouldn't regret getting one.
When I was looking for a phone/ music solution I had 3 possibilities - Parrott, Bury, or the Mediabridge.
The parrot seemed to have a lot of reliability issues, I had one a few years ago, and it never used to work properly.
The Bury, has an external display. I have one of these in our Rav4. A good piece of kit, but an extra display to mount somewhere.
The Mediabridge- just integrates without too much fuss.

I didn't want an external display, wanted looking as standard as possible. I realae fitting OEM Bluetooth is expensive so I think this is the best thing to do
 
I have been looking at other alternatives, I could find a parrot that ten had a steering wheel harness also, but no caller display on HD. So I believe the DICE is the best option.
I guess fitting OEM Bluetooth is an expensive job?
 
I have the meadiabridge, with the multi function wheel......the voice button does activate the voice dialing or siri on iphone! The R/T button does nothing though!
 
Ps you also answer and hangup with the voice button! Not track up /down buttons as advertised!! I think they changed it all on the latest software update which I downloaded from the DICE website!

Thats cool, so voice button means you can still dial numbers with voice activation.

What is the R/T button meant to do?

Does the mediabridge come highly reccommended from yourself as well then?
 
Mediabrideg is ace! the r/t button is for factory bluetooth, to change between radio/telephone!! They way the mediabridge works you dont need this! You can have a music source/iphone conected via usb with full control and still have a second phone/iphone connected via bluetooth! I hade the dice duo before and loved it so upgraded! I find I dont even use the usb any more because the quality of music through BT is just as good! Even with the iphone locked you can still change tracks etc, it really is that good! You wont be disappointed. :D
 
I will keep an Ipod in glove box with my itunes collection on, and use BT for phone calls. This si definatly something i will now invest in. Where abouts did you mount your mic? I can imagine that with it mounted in the light centre cluster that with the roof down would be really hard for people to hear you?
 
Oh i forgot to ask, if you were listening to music from USB source then press the voice button, will it still cut to I phone voice control?
 
Yes it will! And if you've got siri turned on with the 4S you can even write a text/email through the bluetooth! Its a seemless integration with the factory system!
 
Where is your mic mounted?

I have siri, but dont get 3G signal very often so i turn Siri off (as it looks everything up online). I find the voice dialing with it turned off far better.

I don't think i have any other questions. I will buy it later today. Post up a report after i fit it. (I collect the car on Friday)
 
Yep I have siri turned off too, it works far better without! Mount the mic in the stock position, pre face lift behind the little grill next to the interior light panel or post facelift the stock mic is on top of the steering column (in this position you will still have to mount it up by the light, the dice mic will not fit under there)
 
Yeah its fine, bmw only changed it so you could use bluetooth with the roof down...........but really are you going to do that? Plus I'm not really sure if there would be that much improvment!
 
Sat in traffic you would look and sound a little daft with the roof down. Im not sure what it would be like on a 40-50 mph cruise? Okay i will mount it inside the light. Will order the media bridge later on tonight.

Is there any accessories i will need to buy with what comes in the box?
 
Brilliant thanks very much for the help. Will get spending. I think i have some spare cables knocking around at home for ipods. Where abouts did you run your iphone lead?

Did you place the mediabridge behind the dash (behind the heated seats roof buttons etc)
 
I have my mic mounted on the steering wheel cowling - found it easier to mount there, and can still have conversation at 70+ with roof down.
My unit is in the CD changer hole in the binnacle behind the seats. Was easy to install here, without taking out radio etc.
