Hello everyone,

I recently bought a stirling grey 3.0 manual and can't wait for the sun to start shining.

I am new to the forum but I am already finding it really useful. Thanks already to bluestreak for helping me out with my firmware satnav!

I wanted to know your views about the DICE Mediabridge MB-1500 iPod USB Bluetooth Adaptor ... any experiences? From what I can see it seems like a pretty good deal for 180£. Hands free calling... iPod connection through the satnav display/ stereo.

Anyone have any experiences with it? ...or know's someone who sells / fits in the MK area? I am kind of hesitant to fit anything myself!

Cheers,

Hague

Hi,

I fitted the Dice Mediabride a couple of weeks back as wanted Bluetooth for phone.

Simple to fit and good sound clarity.

I have the navigation systems so can see details on the screen and I will admit its not the best of displays with regards to information shown and user user interface but it does the job. I have my Android Samsung phone connected by Bluetooth and have a 4gb USB memory stick plugged in full of MP3 tracks and works well for me.

Couple of things to note is as this connects effectively as the external CD Changer, you can not listen to normal radio and still have Bluetooth phone connected as the audio source needs to stay on CD Changer for the Mediabridge to be active. I get round this by having "Tune In Radio" app on my phone if I want to listen to Kiss FM. Alternatively I understand you can control certain radio apps via the BMW controls if using an iPhone (as this whole system does seem to be geared around iPhone users). The only other annoying thing is I find when playing MP3's they play in the order they were added onto the memory stick so I have to select "Random" everytime at start or I will keep hearing the same songs over and over again in the same order. Wish there was a way to leave it permanently on "Random" but that will be something to do with the BMW Stereo and I haven't found a setting for that as yet. Again, the system was built in California around iPods / iPhones so i'm sure you can get around that via the device settings.

The fitting is very simple and if you do get one and need a hand installing and you can get to St Albans, I'll give you a hand but really it is just simple plug and play.

Hope that helps but if you have any other specific questions, let me know.

thanks for the post! ... I am kind of being put off of it now! ... every time you start the car it goes to the original song and you have to change settings to random?! ... that would drive me completely crazy. I'd have to remember to put James Bond theme tune on the stick first

a hard day at work has me stumbling across: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JZMVf-wwE4 ... intravee system looks great on the satnav screen, which is what I have, and kind of what I am looking for... but it is more expensive but doesn't come with come with the bluetooth, but I guess I can live with out. :-(

... anyone got any comments on intravee? its only available from one place, without fitting?

Only goes back to the first song if it was on Random the last time before turning off or if you flick through the Mediabridge source list eg Aux to Bluetooth then back to Aux. Then again it is only two button presses to put it back on Random so no big hardship.

If you was playing your music via an iPod or iPhone rather than a USB stick, I don't think that would happen as you would have selected Random on the device and not headunit.

Good thing is that you can change volume, tracks and answer and reject calls from the MultiFuntional Wheel buttons.

cheers mate, appreciate being steered in the right direction, I'd be running an ipod / iphone so maybe it isn't a biggie. TBH having the bluetooth would be a bonus. I think I will have to google some screen shots of it in action on the display before I make up my mind. That display on youtube I just saw looks the business.

...I don't have the multi-functional steering wheel, you are lucky! I had it on my last car and I am already missing it :(

well... I guess I have some homework to do and decide which way to go... I have until payday to do some research

I'd second the mediabridge 1500. I use it with my iphone daily. It never goes to the first song when I start the car, unless I press 2 for switching playlists. I don't use the MB Bluetooth, as I have factory Bluetooth.

If you need a video of a certain function (though I lack Sat Nav) or have questions, let me know.

Mine came with a free Sirius tuner as well.
