I have bought myself a dice silverline kit for my z4 3.0 as I wanted to connect my ipod to the car Business stereo without paying BMW a fortune in doing it. On reading the instruction it sounded so easy I did it myself as all I needed to do was to connect 2 cables, one 3 pin and one six pin that were found at the back of the cd multi changer all very easy.
However on connection I found it didn’t work correctly, no matter what switches you used on the dice unit. It would sometimes not recognise anything was connected, loose text display not play, say it was paused, say cd check, everything that could go wrong did. However when it did work it was great.
Due to this, I contacted the supplier and they said they will now replace it.
However I’m slightly concerned about fitting its replacement as my car lately has had some problems. I’m now wondering whether it has anything to do with dice kit.
The electric windows have been playing up they don’t always close correctly when you shut the doors. When you close the window they then reopen when they have fully extended.
Also the instrument cluster and radios lighting sometimes dims or goes out completely.
Could any of this just be coincidence? Has anyone installed the dice kit successfully with it working correctly once installed.
