DICE for my car - what to get? UPDATED

I'd like to get a DICE for my Z, I have DSP & it's a '56 plate with satnav. I've read conflicting info regarding the CD changer and DSP cable requirements.

One of the sites even suggests the 'Audio VOX driven'.

I basically just want to be able to change songs on my iphone from the steering wheel, maybe charge the phone too (BT would also be a bonus). What do I get?! And where from, I can't find the site that's usually recommended...

I know it's not the answer you are looking for, but I've just fitted GROM to my 07 and it does all the things you want and i'm quite pleased. The interface is a bit clunky, but I can answer the phone and change track on my phone via Bluetooth. Just mentioning it in case you have not looked at GROM.

Have you looked into an intravee?
I believe the interface is better and less clunky that the dice/audiovox.
Intravee will let u change tracks and volume for music from steering wheel buttons and adds some extra functionality (3 blink indicators, DRLs etc), but it won't do Bluetooth tho.

If you have DSP - A Parrot MKI 9000 series kit will do that for you AND the sound will be fed through the car's amp and NOT the Parrot amp..

Have you considered something like these?
I have been using one a couple of years, does the job really well.

I have an AUX, and I have to pick the phone up to change song. I'm not fussed really if it doesn't charge, that'd be a bonus. I just want to stop having to use the phone.

EDIT: A bit different, and looks a mess. Looking for something integrated.

I had a Dice in my car along with the DSP/Sat nav and it worked ok with it. I had it set up so that is charged the phone as well as playing music from it. Steering wheel controls would allow you to go through the tracks but I found it was a but sluggish going between tracks and it seemed to freeze a bit that needed a disconnect/reconnect. Other than that it served a purpose.

I ended up taking it out and replacing it with an Intravee though and am much happier with it. The display shows more info, you can decide what info you want on the screen, flicking between the tracks is much quicker and you have the added benefits of the other Intravee options too (locking doors on move away, reversing sensors show distance as well as beep, sat nav map zoom dependant on speed etc etc)

I ended up ordering the intravee II on the deal they had. It's also been shipped, yey!

Anyone whos got one care to suggest the best way to go from 30pin to 8? I was thinking of getting an adapter cable so it'd have length from the cubby hole. Or just get a cheap adapter and use a normal cable? The cable I saw on Amazon had 2 wires, 1 to charge, 1 for audio, was hoping for just 1!

Should have said that the Intravee works in tandem with the Alpine KCA-420i interface adaptor. Did you order one of them too? I got a second hand one on eBay for about £30. Not sure about the cable situation though. Mind was a straight swap for the DICE - didn't need any adaptors anywhere apart from the 5v charging adaptor for my iPhone.

I did order the Alpine adapter, made sense (got the refurb one.)

Thats the bit I'm talking about, from the Alpine to the phone, how have you done it?

TIA

Hahahhahahahahah  tbh was thinking the same but then I'm a Techno ignoramus and I don't even have a Z anymore :( what you really need is a parrot - possibly an AG or NB

From what remember, the Alpine came with two cables - one to the Intravee and one to the phone. The phone one is the older 30 pin connector (iPhone 3 and 4 etc) but since I had the 5 I needed a 30pin to lightning adaptor m Apple and a 5v charging adaptor too. The input to the Intravee are the two existing cables in the car that I guess went to the cd changer. In my case these two cables were attached to my DICE.

Hahahah I like you hahaha
Ps Sam I have the dice setup in mine
I'll in a while give you full instruction how to fit if wanted
As soooooooooooo easy to do

 Going a bit in circles.

It looks as though the adapters from 30pin to 8pin don't do audio. so you'd need a splitter cable to do both charge and audio. If thats the case, I'm not fussed by the charger, it's £60 for Alpine bit and I never feel the need to charge, it'd just be a bonus.

It sounds fussy, but I can't be bothered to plug in 2 cables every time I get in the car. Why can't there just be a product that works?!

EDIT: this allows audio through it: https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter

So maybe just buy that and a lightning extension cable.

My audiovox media bridge
Is at end of my central column
Simply 1 black usb into it
And lightening adapter at other end to charge and run my phone
All works on wheel
And comes up on sat nav

Who keeps coming up with these acronyms. :?

Dice
A small cube with each side having a different number of spots on it, ranging from one to six, thrown and used in gambling and other games involving chance.

Yup. Get the 5v charging adaptor from Toys in your Car too and plug both adaptors into the extension cable.
