In an unscheduled telephone interview on the radio this morning, Dianne Abbott said that if the Labour party could secure forty three percent of the vote it would give them enough to form a government.

She then went on to say that it didn't matter which way the other eighty seven percent voted

I read some information about Diane Abbot today - seems that she was the first ever black woman in Parliament - that alone is a heck of an achievement. There was a lot more that highlights someone who has had to work particularly hard and against many prejudices. Sad that being in the public eye and having to answer scrutiny has led to this. Whether that response is one expected of a shadow home secretary is a fair question - can't say I want to make light of the situation though.

As I get older I think it becomes apparent that a lot of the people who enter politics aren't really the people anybody wants to run the country from either side of the political spectrum.

Very true. Especially as they were rather sure they were going for a full house this time. I wonder if a second referendum is still on the card or whether she got the message. Would love to see her go.
