Detailing White Paint

OK so not a Zed but my new Jag is a flat off white (porcelain)
I'm familiar with detailing metallics and darker colours but any specifics on bringing the best out in flat white paint?

Car is near new, can't see much in the way of swirls and thankfully had no paint protectors applied by the dealers soa clean base to work from.

Have a shelf full of Meguirs products and a pc, already but was thinking of some Porboys for light colours in the mix as it seems good on dark colours

Thoughts and tips welcome

I have found Swissoll to be the best for flat colour (my red Golf). It was not great on the metallics for BMW, but it did work excellent on flat.

I've heard a lot of people say Werkstat products are pretty good on white paint:

Poorboys do a glaze which is the alternative to Blackhole but for lighter cars called "White Diamond": http://www.poorboysworld.com/whitediamond.htm

playalistic - yes - I referenced this in my post (differnt speling) Was thinking of getting a bottle of this.

I use White Diamond and it's a great polish.....follow it up with some supernatural or Colly 476 S

Just watching tv and talking about boy racers thru the Hindhead tunnel!!

I have used several brands of wax on my AWMC over the last two years. I have just switched to DodoJuice Diamond Hard White and in my opinion it is the best I have used so far on white.

But Poorboy's White Diamond is a glaze, not a wax...! it's designed as a base, you'll still need a top coat of polymer or natural Carnauba over that. Blackfire Wet Diamond or Zaino Z2 are my polymer wax choices, P21S for a Carnauba finish

Id treat it like any other paint as i guess even though solid it will have lacquer on too.

Its more to do with the type of paint soft Jap Cars / Hard German cars (btw thats very vague)

If theres little swirls or you can only see few go for a finishing polish low cut high gloss. menzerna Range IMO are nice long work time but dust. You could use 3M polishes as they dont dust but can fill swirls instead of remove if now worked long enough.

Let me know if you need any advice.

Are you sure? I thought flat paint did not have lacquer, but I only had the car 4 days before I left in on a airport car park, so cannot check.

CJ it will have lacquer, all new cars do due to paint being used these days.

Been through it all with my 1 series.

I need to check with Jag as interestingly if you order a paint touch-up it comes with lacquer except flat colours that get a primer.

Halfords touchup for my alpine white didn't include lacquer (never used it as the match was crap) so got BMW whch came with clear.

My VW campervan is a flat white and I just use the same as I use on the Z4: Collinite #476. I'm sure there's better waxes out there but for the money and to avoid stocking up on multiple varieties, I've found this a great all-rounder. It's got decent durability too which is great for daily drivers or BIG vehicles if you don't want to wax too often. I previously tried Finish Kare 1000P as it's supposedly very durable for flat colours, but I was unimpressed with the finish.

But what PaulN says is true - the softness/hardness of the paint can affect what you use, but that's more if you were polishing it beforehand to remove swirls. My VW paint is (to quote my mate) "an absolute bastard to work on" as it's so hard! I'm not sure where Jags fall in the soft/hard paint scale.

Slight off topic... I thought it was Silver? Looked Silver in the pics I saw a while back?? :?

Yeah, just read it in the other thread and now I can be honest since it's gone. I think the silver one was ugly, but love the white one. :)

Ha ha - consider the Grey to have been an extended test...
That went back and I upped the spec and got this one elsewhere with all the upscale body kit, etc.

On reflection the grey had an older look to it (probably colour combined with small wheels). This has a more sport focus, without going full hog to the XFR and associated price
