Detailing / ceramic coating recommendations

Good morning Zeders,

Looking to get my coupe paint correction detailed and after some suggestions for somewhere on the south coast, ideally within an hour-ish of Southampton.

Also, is ceramic coating worth it or is a good wax coat each year just as good?

Thanks in advance!
LP

Ceramic coating is well worth it imo, had my 718 Boxster ceramic coated and now my G29. In 3 years of owning the 718 it got a "proper" wash twice, rest of the time a rinse/snow foam/rinse and dry brought it up like this.

They do look stunning and, while i was regularly cleaning my car when i got it, the motivation is wearing off! I guess this will depend mostly on the cost when i find a detailer... Which i'm still hopeful for suggestions..... anyone.. :tumbleweed:

Was that professionally done or did you do it yourself? If you did it, what product did you use as looking for recommendations

if you guys need some advice, drop me a line, im not in your location but im happy to advise and help this costs nothing at all and i love discussing my craft, my shop is now pretty much one of the leaders in this sector in the west mids with a raft of award wins to our name. We are Gtechniq accredited and the official midlands suntek PPF Centre.

Professionally done, paint correction first, guy had car for four days.

Used Gtechiq coating on roof and bodywork two days ago now and it’s rained quite heavily since before I could get it in the garage. Quite pleased with the results even though not sunny when pics were taken. Very easy to apply.

Will apply a second coat to bodywork after next wash then see how long it lasts

Update: I ended up going to Dave's Detailing in Totton, who made an incredible job of it!

Dave was professional, super knowledgable and had some cool tech that scanned the paintwork on every panel and threw out a report showing how much of the original paint was still intact, it would also show up any repairs/resprays - i was very pleased to see mine were all original and within the 'green zone'.

I will let the photos do the talking, looks like a new car and I still can't stop peaking out the window :D

It rained the morning I picked her up so there's a few mud flecks visible in the last photo, been dry ever since :headbang:

Thanks also to the guys who posted photos above, definitely pushed me to getting it done!

Looks like very nice work indeed, wheels look excellent against the black

‘’Dave’s’’ obviously one to focus on the job in hand rather than spending time dreaming up snazzy business names :D 8)

Got the Zed done at Basha Autohaus Sydney. They said the paint used on the Zed required heat buffing (not cutting) to non-destructively take out scratches. The pro GTechniq crystal serum is arguably the best coating. Also had it done on my M3. Pro paint correction and coating makes the car look better than showroom - and it will stay that way for years if you are careful cleaning it - otherwise the coating will mar if you do silly things like use a single wash bucket or automated car washes.

The result speaks for itself:

Thanks [ref]True-Blue[/ref], I think you may be right haha, Dave’s experience in the industry definitely came across though, I had my bumper re-sprayed and so have to go back Friday for that to be coated once’s it’s had time to ‘gas out’.

[ref]Scubaregs[/ref], think Panta Rhei was referring to the stunning blue 718 and red Zed. Tbf your comment about washing the 718 was what most convinced me

[ref]poss[/ref], that looks stunning, they did a great job too

The paintwork looks brand new and great colour.

Can we start adding the cost of the job please? Would be nice to know how much we are talking about on these pro jobs?
