hey guys & girls, taking delivery of my new 2.3iM at the weekend, and obviously it will have had it's pdc etc.. but any tips or advide on the best way to deal with new paint ?
just a wax? how many coats ? what kind ? or should i still go 2 or 3 stage polish and wax ? etc..
think i have some p226hard wax at home someplace..
also best wax / cleaner for new M 19" for the winter etc..

It depends on what it comes from the showroom like. They can be done well but often are poorly prepped. If that's the case then a good wash and claybar treatment is a good start. Assuming the paintwork is in good condition then just a sealant or wax is all that's needed. If you want to enhance the shine a little then some Dodo Juice lime prime lite or Poorboys Black Hole or White Diamond depending on the car colour will add some depth to the colour. Follow that with the wax. The P226 should be fine. I currently use Collinite 476 - very long lasting and great beading from it.
 
A good wash regime firstly followed by clay to remove the contamination and roughness of the paint.
You think its smooth now maybe?
It will be a whole lot better and makes life easier for the next stages.
Lime prime lite is good in cooler temps, not so in warm conditions.
Ive started using need for speed as its more application friendly plus it already has a small level of carnauba incorporated into it making it an all in one product.
Collinite 476s, marc de elegance or finish kares fk1000p are all great for winter months.
Ive just carried out a winter protection detail on a clients car I worked on and it was still lively, beading and sheeting well after just over 8 months.
fk1000p is better all rounder if you want to seal your wheels or you can use a dedicated wheel sealnt like planet polish wheel seal and shine, smart rim wax or poorboys wheel sealant.
 
Since I collected my car in May, I used BMW wax once, then 2 AG Aqua Wax, and then another zymol Cleaner Wax 2 weeks ago. The 18" 325M wheels had total of 3 coats of Poolboys Wheel Sealant.

I'm going to clay/polish the car after winter now.
 
Colly 476 is the best wax to use....depending on colour, take a look at some plishes - AG SRP is always a afe bet and has a mild filler - also as mentioned before Dodo lime prime is also great. Make sure you wash with 2 bucket method, clay the car, then wash it again - for best results I would do 2 coats of polish and 2 coats of wax, to last you for the next 6 months
 
As above Collonite is a great winter wax i prefer 845 quick and easy and leaves a nice glossy wet look.
