desire hd to play music?

My HTC Desire hd is paired to my Bluetooth system. Looking at the music options on the phone it appears that I can play music via Bluetooth connection. Problem is I don't know how.

What I've figured so far is how to select the car system as the speaker, but I don't know what to select on the BMW business head unit. It is the basic system (non sat nav) that I have.

Does anyone have any idea how this might work? Thanks in advance :)
 
I'd be surprised if you can do it with the OEM kit. You can't select anything from the headunit.

Don't you have an aux socket?
 
No aux socket. To be fair the cd player is good enough for me. It's just that the option is on the phone and I was hoping to make use of it. I half suspected the lack of aux selection to be the limiting factor.

Was hoping it would work in the same way as the phone does, ie select phone and play the music that way...........
 
you would need the car to understand the A2DP (or somesuch) bluetooth system, which ours don't.

Andy posted on another thread a cheap (£17) device which adds it via the AUX connection though...
