Came across these earlier, thought I'd post up, may be an option for someone looking for a weight saving track setup.

Looking at the DesignTek web site it looks like they mostly make after market options for Porsches - but do cover Audi, VW, BMW and Mini. However, the seats were on CA with universal mounts. They were in a number of different styles and have different finish options.

Some blurb...

Advantages
• Reduced body movement

This was the most surprising thing, other than the weight, is the price! From CA (who aren't listed as a stockist and are generally expensive)...
Spider seat in black suede - £323.71
The leather seats listed on CA as leatherette max out the pricing at £440.92!

Thought so... just did a quick search before submitting... they're even cheaper on here - Prestige Performance Centre
EDIT: they have a greater range of seats to - some as much as £550.

If they are comfortable enough you could probably buy a set with cloth Spiders for £270 and get them re-trimmed BMW performance style - black suede with red diamonds stitched in - E89 Mille Miglia style :)

The first seat looks nice and like you say that is remarkably cheap compared to others. Would they actually fit in the Z4 though? Not exactly much room to spare, the M-sport seats are pretty figure hugging as they are, and before anybody says it, no I'm not fat!!

Have a look at the link, there are plenty of options! Yes, they will all fit. Had a proper look at over lunch, the weight and cost does go up a lot with bases. I like these with a little cheeky red stitching...

Track Bucket Sports Seat - DTX RECLINE Leather and Alcantara - £535 each.

Other surprise looking around the site, RECARO Pole Position (FIA) Race Seats, £399!

Good price on gruppe m too! Nice find

Shame I have heated seats or I could be really tempted by these. Cracking value!

That's about 10% less than the official distributor sells them for - so a decent saving that you can spend on petrol

If you're looking for a 'cheap' sport seat then they start at about £100 - but I've always wanted the Recaro PP ABE and will not put anything in except that (black/champagne alcantara).

Wow great find! Do you know how much they weigh? I think i would rather go for a reclining seat to have a bit more fleibility to get comfy but imagine will weigh a bit more due to the mechanism.

The reclining ones also don't have the amount of lateral support that some of the others do, as a big part of the frame that hold your lower hips/pelvis in is missing.

Ah yes so there is. I think i could probably live with that though, i have standard seats with hardly any bolster whatsoever which i'm happy with.

I would be more interested in saving weight. I tthink i read elsewhere that a standard electric sports seat weighs 28kg, so if the 16kg stated for these includes the runners then a 24kg weight saving isnt too shabby.

More importantly though, they look superb!
