Finally decided to buy a Z4 and tracked down a nice one & paid my deposit today.

2004 3.0i SE in Sterling grey with black leather & 18" split rims.

Just 29K on the clock and two previous owners - first of which was registered at BMW Park Lane (but registered in an individual's name rather than dealership - not sure if this is 'usual' or not?).

Immaculate condition apart from some scuffing on the rims.

After a lot of deliberation I'm afraid I wimped out and bought an auto box. Haven't owned an auto for quite a while but my last, a 325i convertible, was excellent.

It'll be really interesting to compare this to our other car - a current model 325i (with the newer 3 litre engine).

This won't be my first sports and/or convertible so lots of other things to compare against. As a part introduction here's a potted history of some of the nicer cars I've had:

Started out with all the usual hot hatches - XR2, XR3i, Golf GTi, Manta GTE etc & then moved to some more 'interesting' toys. . .
Peugeot 205 GTi with Garrett T25 turbo
BMW 323i Cabrio
Audi Coupe Quattro (the original 2.2 Turbo 5 cylinder)
BMW 325i Conv
'58 Oldsmobile Conv
Nissan SX200 (owned at the same time as the Olds - needed something a bit more sensible in the garage as well)
'67 Mustang 2 dour coupe with '79 Ford Motorsport 5 litre
'79 Merc 350 SL V8
'93 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with 7 litre V8 & twin superchargers (plus a whole stack of other stuff!)

Can't wait to pick up the Z4 on Saturday - then it's time to start hunting for mods :)

These are the only pics I have at the moment - will do some more when I pick it up :)

I have to admit that I really like auto boxes - I've driven quite a lot in the States (had a fab Mustang over there for an extended holiday) and realised that they can be great fun.

Nothing quite like the feeling when you slam your foot through the floor & it down-changes through two gears to surge away like a train :)

You've bought a "roadster" and you're worried about the auto box questioning your masculinity?! :P

Just teasing pal, lovely looking z, love that color. And interesting list of cars you're had too
