...bad points are that the wheels are hideously curbed, but that reflected in the price, and I've already lined up part-exing them with Mark @ BM Autosport for some shiny unoriginal but spot on 19" CSLs with proper tyres :) Also got the dealer (bizarrely a Vauxhall dealer in Wigan) to respray the front bumper as it's got a couple of scratches.

A couple of newbie questions!

1 - is it possible to fold up the mesh wind deflector, as rear visibility is crap with the roof up?
2 - what's the best plug and play iPod solution for Pro Nav, with HiFi System Professional DSP, that will display on the screen?
3 - the headlights looks a little opaque - any suggestions? Is it external, in which case I can polish it out with my DA or could it be internal?

That's all for now - but undoubtedly will have many more questions soon!
 
some nice optional extras there.

wind deflector can be stored on the underside of the bootlid. there should be 2 brackets there which it clips into.

Answers to your questions -

1. If it is the genuine BMW mesh you should find two clips on the upper corners. Push the clips inwards and the mesh should slide upwards and out. Your car may have some clips attached to the inner boot lid that will enable you to neatly store the mesh there when not in use.

2. Intravee or Dice mediabridge are probably the best.

3. Yep, i had exactly that problem, I got really good results using a 3M restoration kit. See my guide here

I've DAed the lights of my big bro's old E60 and sorted them - but forgot to double check if it was on the outside or inside of this car! But looks like it'll be nice and easy (except for elbow grease!)

Can you still get the Intravee? Had one in my X5 and it was dead good.

...but spinning it 720 degrees in the wet on the double chicaney bit (I forget the name) and thankfully missing three cars and the armco was enough to make me crave something with traction control :oops:

Having to rev the nuts off it all the time got boring - although with the K&N 57i it sounded amaaaazing!
 
Looks a decent motor! same spec as mine i think but ive got different wheels, had mine less than a month and ive already started modding, dechromed the front grille and fit 25mm rear spacers :D

Yes you can still get brand new Intravee IIs from toysinyourcar.com about £150 delivered. You can pick up second hand Alpine KCA 420is from Ebay for around £40. If you have DSP and need the Dice DSP converter too I have one which I'll sell for £40 delivered.

Ah, we'll the 330 should have provided plenty torque, and with the zed you have less weight.... therefore quicker 8)

After reading the other threads the Intravee looks the way to go. I used to have one in my X5 but that was the old firmware version without all the extra geeky options. According to Toysinyourcar I won't need the DSP module though?

"You won’t need the DSP adapter - that was changed by BMW on later CD Changers so no need for your Z4."

Is that because I have the CD changer fitted?

Had it remapped by BWChiptune and that made a huge difference, which was a great surprise on a NA engine. - Old thread here http://evotechnik.net/showthread.php?36901-Impressive-gains-from-an-E46-330ci-petrol-remap&highlight=remap
