Dent removal

I’ve acquired a small dent on my drivers door.
I’ve watched YouTube posts of using a tiolet plunger to pull out dents.
Anyone tried it ?

why bother trying.
take it to a pdr guy, and if it has not damaged paintwork, will cost about £50 to do properly.

I would have thought toilet plungers would do big dents ,,, little dents either glue or rod from behind .
I have a set o rods , but only play on older scruffy stuff , its not as easy as it looks in the videos.

I used to be quite handy at pulling .pushing out small dents. If you can get behind the panel then it's usual pretty straight forward. Can't say I ever used a toilet plunger, would need to be a pretty big dent for that to work. If your happy to experiment on your Z4 then by all means. Chances are the first few times you won't make a perfect job of it though. I would find a car that doesn't matter that much first and experiment on that, before risking my Z4.

As long as the dent is on a flattish surface like your door, then a dent repair man should have it sorted for under £100.

These guys are amazing. I had a car park ding on the swage line of the front wing which is quite an achievement given that managed not to damage the flat surface. These chaps got it out no problem. They shine a special striped light on your body panels and it's amazing to see other imperfections that aren't so noticeable to the naked eye. They did a couple of others on a door and back wing so now it's perfect. Cost £200

I’ve just emailed them as I’ve got a slight chip/knock on my passenger door swage line which chips away can’t do.

Take it to someone who knows what they are doing or you can make it worse. I've used a paint-less guy to fix a few things, but it depends whats behind the panel and if they can gain access. I had a tiny ding on the wing, he managed to eventually gain access to it from a space within the engine bay £60.

When I was dealing in cars I used a suction puller for some smallish size dents to some good effect but not perfect and of course I only did this on cheap part exchanges that did not warrant the spend. All other cars I had my PDR guy come around to do a pro job.

I’ve had chips away and another PDR company say they can’t do mine as they can’t get at that but behind the door and have advised to source any new door or go to a body shop - new door they said would be cheaper.
