Dension 300 with prof. sat nav

Thanks Stuart, for all the helpful info. After reading countless people say that if you have the nav screen go with intravee, I've decided to go with the flow and cancelled the Dension install. Lost my £30 deposit, but oh well. Even though my iPod is only 16gig, I can still fit a heck of a lot on it, and I will get a kick out of the other features the Intravee offers. I can always buy a big iPod classic if I'm desperate for more space.

Does anyone know what other Alpine units would work well with the Intravee? I read some people refer to a DAB radio unit...

Thanks :-)

I use mine with audio books as well as music (easy way to start learning Italian) so would assume that podcasts would also work ...

I've not seen a Dice or Dension integrated into a car with Nav, anyone?

I did have a DICE on mine, but it was the older design. It wasn't easy to integrate with the nav and had to be reset every time to get track names through. Intravee is definitely a step up!

I have a dension 300 with sat nav, I also brought the cable so that you can still use the 6 disc multichanger too if needed.

Wanted it for the USB stick option to play music from and so far its been very good, also have the ipod/phone dock.

The selection of music is fiddly at first using the stereo with usb but once you know how to use it, works great.

I havent really used the ipod dock, but have tried iphone & ipod through it and works well.

I have an 8Gb usb stick full of music. Dension have software on their website to download which can allow you to index your usb stick before you attach to z4 so that the dension unit doesnt have to. (much quicker btw)

The dension 300 fits behind the oem stereo, the ipod dock and usb cable all go into the glovebox so nothing on show, was a bit fiddly to get the cable from front cabin into the rear to attach to the multidisc changer, but was straight forward.

The sat nav screen shows the track/album you are playing above the black box (where it usually says cd number).

Sound is really good and cant complain, sorry i didnt see your post before.

Doh! If you would have posted that a few days ago I might have stuck with the Dension idea.

I'm gonna stick with the forum consensus I guess and go with the Intravee. Glad to hear it works well for you though!

Right, I've searched the forum so I must be supee thick.... To install the Intravee & Alpine unit in my boot & run the iPod cable through to the cupboard where the cd changer is, what cables do I need to buy, if any?

Thanks!

You will need:

Alpine unit
Intravee II
Cable from cd changer to Intravee
Cable from Intravee to alpine
Cable from alpine to iPod/iPhone

If you buy on eBay, check it has all the cables. Stuart did an install guide somewhere on here that may help...

here you go...

Bit concerned I won't be able to update the firmware as I only have a MacBook Air.... It will run a Windows partition, but who knows if that would work.

Drop them an email - there may be cables with your order. They're a pretty responsive and helpful lot...

As for updating firmware, never tried it with a mac. If its a problem, ask on here - there's plenty of us who have updated the firmware, and may be someone close :D

My Intravee is connected directly to the CD auto changer cables and mounted on the rear bulkhead in the boot. Is there an extension cable available?

The cable to the Alpine unit routes through the bulkhead and comes out through the trim nr the rear subwoofer (passenger side) and the Alpine is in the floor under the passenger set. I've then routed the cable to the iPod under the transmission tunnel/centre console trim. The USB update cable for the Intravee remains connected and is curled up in the boot.

All works well and the only fiddly parts were disconnected the auto changer cables as they are obscured by a frame where the DSP amp is mounted and routing the Alpine cable through the bulkhead into the cabin. Other than that it's plug n' play

Are you running the Gateway 300 with Factory Bluetooth as well as Nav?
