Delivery date - keeps getting pushed back

I completely agree, buying new has been a nightmare for me so far.

If it doesnt arrive before i go to Scotland, it will just be sat at the dealer for over 2 weeks. The salesman asked me to come in and sign the finance papers next week. I'm not signing anything lol

It's the first time I've bought a new car and always thought it would be an enjoyable experience and being treated like royalty spending do much money. Reality is, I've had better service and treatment buying a can of baked beans in a supermarket.

I'd be inclined to give them an absolute deadline and on the basis no car by due date then the order will be cancelled by default. As you say, spending so much money should engage their interest but afraid to say my experiences have been so similar to your so many times that I now dread the process of buying a new car!
When I think how hard I have work to secure 30 of 40 K of business, I find it hard to understand why they aren't falling over themselves when Joe Muggins walks in and spends mega bucks in one foul swoop. I've yet to meet any car sales person who I would go back to hence why I have no brand loyalty.

I'm not sure about what I'm going to do at moment. I've already endured all the hassle with the mistake in the contract, too.

I remember when the dealer called me to say mines on its way, I was kinda thinking great not long now. It took a month from leaving the factory. I think sometimes salesman don't appreciate the transit time and when they can get a slot on a transporter. I noticed at my local dealer the transporters have a mix of BMWs, Vauxhalls etc and can be delayed if there are not enough cars to fill the transporters up.

Tim.

I sent my salesman an email this morning and he literally called me back straight away. To be fair, he is great, he's not one of those muppets which want your business and fob you off.

He has kept me up to date from the very beginning and explained how they had a time slot allocated for delvery by June 26th. He said they are trying their best to get the car to me asap but it's literally out of their hands as it is BMW Germany who are causing the delay.

He said once the car arrives, they will try and turn it around and test everything on the day so I can have it straight away.

I mentioned how I need a car for my trip to Scotland and he said if the car doesnt come in time, he will try and arrange a loan car for me, either a 3 series or 5 series.

He said they have no idea why it has been delayed and there isnt any way of finding out.

He explained how sometimes the car comes earlier, sometimes later, but it is completely out of their control and there is literally nothing they can do but monitor its progress on the system.

Apparently once a delivery of cars was kept at Southampton port for 3 weeks and they werent given a reason why.

He was completely fair and quite sympathtic saying they want me to get the car ASAP and will try and sort out a loan car if it doesnt get to me in time for my trip...

I can only really wait now. All I know is that I will never be buying brand new unless they have new stock in the dealership. I will stick to ex demo/showroom models as the wait really isnt worth it...

Well I'm looking at a potential six week delay and getting a 13 plate car a fortnight before the plate change. Realistically, there's no way I'm letting that happen. If it's that late, summer's gone and I'd rather have it registered on a 63 plate.

I'll see what next quarter's offers are, next week and if preferential, I'll most likely cancel the current one and re-order.

From what I've read of other similar situations, they seem to be very reluctant, universally to offer anything in goodwill.

I'll buy new again, but would not do it without a "time is of the essence" clause" in the contract.

Cancel and go to another dealer

It's not the dealer it's BMW Germany - so you cancel go to another dealer and start all over again......

Very true!

Not the dealers fault tbf but I still vent my frustration towards them. Salesman called me again and said he will have a loan car ready as a backup in case my car doesnt come before the 11th of July. Only downside is that it has advertising all over it!

What are going to do? I noticed today that the prices on the configurator were way higher than last quarter. I'm not sure if deals as good as last quarter will be available unless they need to update them.

Im not sure what to do now. Salesman said he will check the status everyday and let me know if it changes. I honestly wont be surprised if it gets delayed further. It's been sat in Germany fully made since beginning of June.

Since I need a car for the 11th I think I will cancel... The z4 dream is going to be over before it even started!

Might just go for an ex demo/pre reg one instead and buy it outright. Shame the only ones in my spec are white with black leather rather than the red leather I wanted.

Any news on ur zed Simon?

Ditto,

However I have being told, to allow for the 63 reg I would have to pick up on the 2nd as the 1st is a Sunday and can't register on a Sunday, either way roll on pick up day!

What have you gone for?
