Deleting Bluetooth Device List

Ive had a number of bluetooth phones successfully paired to my E86 fitted with the factory bluetooth prep.
Getting into pairing mode is no problem (just hold down the button on the cradle, turn on ignition, release button after 3 secs).
Now I want to pair a new phone (iPhone 6) but I keep getting "Pairing Failed" after entering the passcode. I get the same when I try to pair an old phone (iPhone 4) again, which Ive had successfully paired in the past.
Im wondering if the number of paired devices is full. Does anyone know how to clear the memory?
I dont have the manual as it was missing from the car when bought.

Thanks swiftly, as was able to download BMW Bluetooth I_Bus book E46-X3-X5-Z4 2005 2006.pdf and these instructions worked for me.
When in pairing mode, press the pairing button for 10 secs, you hear three beeps, release button, then on display it says "Devices Deleted".

Still cant get my phones to pair though as keep getting "Pairing failed" on the display after entering the pass key via mobile phone keypad. So clearing the paired devices list hasnt solved the issue.

The pass key couldnt have changed as theres no option to do that. Its also printed on a sticker on the TCU in the trunk, which is what the dealer would read out using a diagnostics machine. So Im entering the right code.
Not sure what to do apart from trying again another day.
 
When I've paired any of my phones to my cars I've always entered my own passkey. Usually just type 0000 on the phone and the same on the dash when asked or vice versa. I've never had any specific passkey to enter and that's been the case in a E46, E61, two E88's and my E89

Oh and number of devices I believe is 10 max

But there was an issue with iPhone 6 and calls and something to do with the cloud and having more than one device linked to the cloud. I ended up having to delete my iPhone 5 off of the cloud to get the iPhone 6 to work with the Bluetooth properly.
 
The E86 I have doesnt have a variable passkey i.e. one where you choose your own on the dash and the same on the phone or vice-versa. Instead it has a fixed passkey which is a 4 digit number that must be programmed in on the production line and is provided in the documents with the car.

Correct and given what you say in previous posts you have the correct code.

Can't tell what's wrong, but are you following the correct sequence of ignition on pressing pairing button, entering code then turning off ignition?
I always have a bit of a song and dance to get new phones to pair on the Z4

There might well be a compatibility between car and iPhone 6.
Unfortunately it doesn't explain why after trying to pair the iPhone 6, I can no longer pair any other phone.
Even the old iPhone 4 which was paired before (until I removed its pairing by deleting the device list memory) wont pair again. Keep getting "Paring Failed" on the dash. Similar status message seen on the phone.

Today I tried to pair an even older Nokia 6830 which if I remember correctly, was on the list of compatible devices when this car was produced. But even that phone doesnt pair.

Its behaving as if the passkey Im entering is wrong. Ill keep trying as Ive read a few people have issues and then suddenly they get lucky. Otherwise I might have to ask the dealer to do a diagnostic session on it. In fact may just get the kit off ebay and see if I can read back the fixed passkey myself and verify that it hasn't somehow bizarrely morphed into another number.

Agree Bob, I would have expected the older phones which had previously paired okay to still do so. Sounds like a passkey issue or could it be down to the unit failing?
 
Try deleting the devices on your phone too. Also try a reset all settings on your iPhone - will reset your screen saver and ringtone but not lose any data. Worked for me on my MR and iPhone 6.
 
I've had 2 BM' and 4 ULF modules as I've upgraded and never had not heard of a Paidley changing. I'd wager it's impossible and is hard coded.

It's an issue if not getting the correct sequence of phone and car into pairing mode and then registering or as said a failing module.
