Dehumidifier for condensation on inside of screen

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a reasonably cheap dehumidifier to clear the damp from the inside of a windscreen ?

I tried buying those packets that you leave on the dashboard but it is not doing a lot.

Hi, can't really help I'm afraid, but I'd be asking why you have that much condensation on the inside?
Have you checked all the carpets are dry etc?

Ditto. Finding the root of the problem and sorting it will always be better than trying to 'manage' it.

As above, if your carpets are not obviously damp it’s worth taking the passenger seat out and getting your hand under the carpet, although you may be able to get to the gap in the carpet just by sliding the seat forward and going in from behind. The sound absorbing backing material is capable of absorbing a lot of water. Then you need to mop it out and dehumidify for a few days while you investigate the source of the ingress. Plenty of threads on here about that.

The same is also true for the driver’s side, which can be a problem because that’s where the (very expensive) yaw sensor is located, but on the E85 I only had water on the passenger side.

It is a fact that dry cars do not fog up inside, so it’s worth investigating.

 just noticed that this is an E89 thread, so no idea whether any of the above is relevant, sorry.

Suggesting getting to the root cause of interior condensation is easier said than done.
My interior is bone dry after I remedied a leaking door membrane causing damp carpets as well as removing/modifying the scuttle, clearing out drain points and I still get condensation. In my case I think water is getting past the windscreen scuttle seal, sitting somewhere in the bowels of the scuttle and feeding up through the air inlets if left open. I confirmed this by turning off the air vents (closing them) before turning ignition off. This has reduced the condensation which accumulates on the inside of the windscreen, but not totally.

Might be teaching you to suck eggs and if so i apologise, but air con is very effective at clearing condensation, should be used all year round...
