Definitive Guide to Winter Storage of Zed

My garage has a concrete floor but I bought a job lot of those interlocking foam mats a few years ago from eBay and covered the lot. Stops dust and helps with temp changes each season.

My mc is not a weekender its for driving anytime apart from diabolical weather. Looking forward to a 260 mile run next week to Norfolk and back a few days later , wondering how many cars I'll overtake !

Answer=3. You'll be in Norfolk.

Getting there and back I mean ! And going into Norwich !

Thanks for the advice!

Couple of questions:

1 - I have RFT - should i over inflate it to prevent flat spots? Or jack up the car and rotate the tires twice a month?
2 - The car is parked in an unheated garage on concrete. Should I put a tarp under it to keep it away from moist?
3 - About the antifreeze thing, the coolant already contains antifreeze right? so no need to flush and add, as it is already topped up.

Thanks for the answers!

Vince

How long you planning to store for Vince? Doubt you'd need to do many on your list if only a few months.

I reckon you'll be okay then mate. Maybe give the RFTs a few extra bar but other than that, all good.

One thing that seems to be missed of the winter prep list is to make sure the screen washer bottle is filled with a very strong solution of anti freeze screen wash and also make sure that its pulled thro the pipes including the headlamp washers.

This omission cost me £120 in my Disco a few years ago and I've also seen pipes freeze and push off connections in a pals Volvo.

Iam doin the same this year,as last year ,if last winter was anything to go by !
Taking it to matts @ off your marks detailing in warrington and kept in dry storage til spring !

...missing my car being on the road :(

Currently tucked up in the garage covered in duvet's, throws and on a conditioner. Even got rags in the 4 exhaust ports. A sorry sight indeed.

There's another one round here somewhere. I saw it once. I was in my Freelander on my way home and I saw it. I thought someone had nicked mine! The relief when I got back and it was still there.

The colour does look much better in the metal, wins some doubters over when they see it in real life.

Anything up to a couple of months, I really wouldn't bother with any special preparation. But beyond that, the only problems I've had are:

1. Spiders setting up house in the car. So I spray the interior with Raid before closing it up.

2. Rabbits eating the HT leads and nesting in the engine bay. I don't leave it for months at a time on the grass on rabbit ridden RAF stations anymore. Because I don't have to :D

Neither are problems I've had with current cars thankfully! I don't have to go away on long detachments anymore.

The LRB (Little Red Bastard) will be driven, at least weekly throughout the winter. Because it's fun.
