Deep scratches on car

When washing my Z yesterday, I noticed 2 deep scratches on the bottom of the skirt under the drivers side door.

I'm the only person that drives my car, and I'm so damn careful about where I park and where I take the car.

Due to the location of the scratches being so low, I can't see how it could have been done by another car.


Having not noticed them before, I can only surmise that the car was scratched while being serviced at BMW 2 weeks ago...My OH suggests that it may be from driving the car on the ramp. (lifter)

Can't prove anything... I'm just really really annoyed. Will be taking photos of the panels at drop off time in future, and will inspect the car in detail before leaving.
 
Had something similar happen a few years ago. Now I always insist that they check car with me when I leave it at a dealers. I get them to mark defects (only one stone chip at present) on their work sheet. It gives me a little piece of mind.
 
Sadly it's a real problem where dealers damage cars and the employee does not own up or know.

I had the rear wheel arch deeply scored on an old Exploerer on it's service. Total denial by the dealer until i pointed out the paint on the damage area was identical to their workshop entrance ...... Repair done without furhter question

Langka kit is very good for simple DIY fixes. I was sceptical but purchased and used it with success
 
i lost a windscreen at the dealer. was lucky my insurance covered a free windscreen every year without excess so i just let it go
 
really sorry to hear about this, fingers crossed the repair kit does the job. I'm going to do the checking the car before and after service in the future, after all they do the same when you use a loan car
 
Very sorry to here this know how you feel my was damaged the day i picked it up never noticed till i washed the car the next day had caught the very bottom of the front bumper on the offside was deffo not there when i checked the car over and i am pretty sure the salesman did it on a curb as he brought the car out of the underground car park beneath the showroom but cannot prove it so nothing was done :x

I used it to tone down a very long deep scratch on my daughter's Ka and it's a massive improvement, but IMHO that's not it's real purpose and those type of marks always need professional work or full panel spraying.

In essence the kit allows an amateur to fill a stone chip with normal touch in paint then flatten the excess paint by disolving it with solution on a microcloth and flat scraper (could even be a credit card). The result is a much better chip repair than the typical blob that is left.

cj10jeeper, I agree. The Lanka system "fills" an area like a rock chip. A long deep gash doesn't have the same conditions therefore, you will have different results than what is intended. If I understand where this is located, the panel is removable and wouldn't be that expensive to have done by a professional. It isn't a job for a spray can of paint either if that is an option.
 
Here is a pic of one of the scratches.... I'm in Aus, so its not always easy to track down a product from overseas. I'll try tho.


 
I'd have something that deep and long off and resprayed. Would not waste my time on touch in or chip repair companies.
