After I-have-no-idea-how-many hours, I am finally done :yeah:
This afternoon was wheel change and arch clean. Took the wheels of one side (both) at a time, gave each arch a wash with soapy water, treated with crap AG tar remover (I am getting Tardis for sure next time), rinsed, treated with Iron X, rinsed, then finished with 303 Aerospace Protectant.
Rear before :
Rear after :
And front after - think I may have discovered some inner arch rubbing
Not perfect, still a little bit of tar, but looking nice. Of course the car is so low you can't see the arches, but the point is I know they are clean
Bad news is that I think I will need new rear disks pretty soon as they are looking quite corroded and have the beginnings of a lip
With the wheels back on I swapped over the centre caps (really need new ones that fit as I am bored of cleaning off silicone adhesive then reapplying), and also some new wheel bolt covers. Not convinced by them yet - possibly because the locking nut is not covered. I will ponder, maybe get covers for the locking nuts, maybe just get new bolts - opinions welcome :
Unfortunately the light was going by the time I got to take her out, but I am delighted with the results so here's some shots of the finished article that I snapped on my phone :
Cheeky interior shot for those who love red leather 8)
Oh, and new LED sidelights. Nice on their own, but without xenons they do look slightly off when the headlights are on. Not off enough to change them back though
It was great getting in and going for a spin, roof down, toons turned up - f*ck me, I love this car
Then I realised I had forgotten to clean the windows... Arse :slaphead:
Dusty now, so if the sun is out I'll do a quick once over with quick detailer in the morning and see if I can find a place to take some brighter pics.
All in all a worthwhile experience, but damn that was hard work and it.took.for.ever. I am all detailed out for at least 4 or 5 months I reckon...
