Deep chip in Windscreen...

Noticed a deep chip in the screen at motorway services today.

Anyone have any advice about what to do without having to pay for a new screen?

Damn trucks throwing up rocks from potholes, poor road surfacing on the motorways!!!!!!!!!!

On another note, i noticed at least three foreign trucks in the third lane of the motorway

If you want to use roads in the UK, learn to read the fecking highway code you ingrates!!!!!!!!

Chips can be repaired with resin - most windscreen replacement firms will do it. Costs upto £30, but any insurance firms cover this without excess and without damage to any no claims.

I've had it done before - it is not completely invisible, but fixes it. I think the location can make a difference in terms of MOT though - a quick web search will tell you more... (AutoGlass do it)

re: MoT - You're fine if it's no bigger than a £2 coin, and not directly in front of the driver.

I've got a reasonable chip in mine at the moment (saw it happen too; scared the bejesus out of me!)... really need to get it sorted, sure it'll be covered by my insurance (BMW fully comp)

What really narks me as far as foreigners go is this ---- Norway / Switzerland you have to buy a ticket to use the roads ! France /Spain tolls if you want to get anywhere directly /quickly
The UK yeah come on over stay as long as you want --- NO CHARGE ! thought it was an equal playing field in the the sacred EU !
Dont get me wrong ive lived the majority of my adult life off this island but now living here it just sucks the inequality of it
THOUGHTS ? :poke: :fuelfire:

What is worse - we pay huge road tax (by this I mean not the yearly pittence, but the huge tax on petrol) - however as tax goes up, does the maintenance of the roads? No - they just go on and on about "green" issues to which again, none of the so called green taxes are used against.

At least in France the money seems to go on good quality roads.

Not 100% on this but i dont think the French have to pay road tax and still have better roads than us :(
