Declaring other vehicle claims insurance.

So just renewed Z4 insurance.
Bought for £207 fully comp.
£100 less than i paid last year.

Also, a different company insured Berlingo, £250 fully comp.

Happy with both prices.

So the Z4 insurer got back to me to say a CUE (Claims Underwriting Exchange) had been flagged.
I asked what for, they said stolen motorbike. (Thought it might have been another driver bumping my door they fixed).
I said yes, my bike got stolen 2 months ago, i didn't claim, not worth it. But insurance knows no claim and all settled.
What i didn't want was the car insurance being affected cost going up.

Sure enough they want me to cough up another £33.
So i asked, was this like a fine for not declaring on initial application. Couldn't say.
So i asked, what's it got to do with car insurance. Couldn't say.
So why should i having to pay extra £33 make any difference.
Berlingo insurers haven't come back to me.

Funny now because £240 is about the alternate cheapest quote from other insurers. Was £207 just hook?
Swinton.

I don't think its a hook, any motoring claim will impact your car insurance or so I have always believed.

Theft is a difficult one as they will see you as being a target even if the claim was for the bike.

“Clearly you, sir, are at additional risk for car theft to the tune of £33”

When I asked why my insurance premium increased after a girl drove into the back of my car whilst distracted by arguing with her boyfriend (the excuse she told her insurer), I was told that I am the kind of driver who gets driven in to. I had stopped at a pedestrian crossing when she hit me - had I not been there, the girl would have hit the pedestrian.
I no longer stop at pedestrian crossings in case I’m involved in another accident and my premium increases further :P

Experimenting i tried a few other companies, declaring and not declaring and made no difference to quotes.
Tried the same company as Berlingo insurance, offer 15% discount multi car, price quoted i take as a joke.
I think car insurance like buying airline seats, whatever price suits them that day or minute.

The 'incident' of the bike theft goes on the database against you. You are a higher risk than you were because you had a theft
Average 20% additional premium for 5 years.
The Berlingo insurers will probably want the extra aswell when they notice the flag against your name.

Insurance is legalised theft these days. :x

So if it going to against me i might as well have claimed the insurance on the bike.
Would offset the increase.

Exactly what I thought when I paid for a £900 headlight and didn't claim, but made the mistake of discussing the options with the insurance. Not doing that again!

Or in the case of my mother in law, by calling the insurance company for a leaking boiler as she thought she had home serve with them, it was logged as an incident (it wasn’t covered) and the premium went up by £200. Even by switching insurance, the “incident” remained there as it was on the database so still hammered the premium.

Yet when you buy insurance some companies ask for evidence of no claims bonus, yet they seem to have data about everything else about you if the data is to their advantage..
So why is no claims data not logged?
Happy to log claims and share that data.
What happens about gpdr or whatever it's called, sharing data..
Banks, insurance and government one big happy family.

So Swinton i paid £207 and now want £33....i am happy to pay that, so £240.

I tried Swift who i have Berlingo insured with and quote given with a "nice" 2 car as they call it 15% discount.

£293.........i laughed..
