Deciding whether to sell the Z4

I finally got my Z4 back all fixed and rattle free. Question is, I don't know if I want keep the car anymore.

The settlement is the same as a trade in for an excellent example by glasses valuation. Should I sell and get out if I am unsure to keep it? Where would I sell to? Opinions

I'm sure lots would buy it for a k or two above trade.....

Do you not like Z4's or just unsure about your car?

As much as I love it. As much as I love driving it, I actually miss my 1 series...

Having had the benefit of the really good finance offer, what else would you get for the cash?

What don't you like about it, or why do you miss the 1 series?

The only 1 Series I would consider is the 135iM. Have a look in Sept issue of BMW Car who have done a review. Their conclusion is its one of the best BMWs to date and more useable than a 1M. I have to admit I was a bit cheesed off when I saw the price at 29K an absolute bargain.

My only reservations of the F20 when I had a loaner a 118d Sport, it felt cheap and tinny and the interior was a complete letdown for me. Its not a car where I would be deliberately glancing at shop windows as I drove past to catch its reflection, I love the Zeds presence on the road and always look back when I park up. The 1 Series....nah.

+1 and have my test drive of the M135i booked for first week Oct when my dealer gets one in. Did look at an M3 as the current finance deal brings it into the affordability range. Even so the M135i is faster than the M3 in 4th from 50 to 75mph in 4th when in auto guise!

Agreed re looks etc. and if I like the drive, might see what the M235i looks like

Just think if you miss the 1 series now, just think what might happen if you sell the zed, nothing will live up to that :poke:

I know how it goes. Sometimes a car just doesn't suit. I bought a Prodrive Impreza a couple of years back. Great car... I just couldn't take to it. Only had it two months, and had to part with it... hope you make the right decision, whatever that may be :(

I love my z4, but must say my 123D was a fantastic car. Brilliant handling (maybe not quite like the Zed), but a joy to drive. SInce then I've had a 330D (great, and nimble, but not as good as the 123) and now a 535D (more power then any of the others, and amazing torque, but not as fun as the 1). If you're not sure about the Z4, and don't want open top motoring, you won't go wrong with the 1 series, but go for the 135i or the 123D. Also, make sure it's a coupe - the saloon is soooo ugly.

I'm fortunate to have one of each between me and the mrs but I can't imagine not having either of them - they are such different cars for different things. Guess it depends what you're after but if I had to chose, zed would win 8)

When I was looking to buy a car 123d was high on my list.
However, as I don't use my car a lot diesel didn't make sense and Z4 just looks so much more 'special' than 1 series, which made me go for Z4.

Had a 123dmsport coupe before the z went well but was poorly screwed together had squeaky steering and all sorts of knocks and rattles and a very hard and crashy ride i think the z is a class up in build quality and so much more special to look at mine makes me smile every time I drive it. :D

But if you look at the problem with Keiths car, I think he would strongly dissagree about the build quality. His car had lots of rattles and leaks.

My Z4 is being replaced due to a leak they cant fix.

We've got an '11 plate 1'er also and to be honest, I wouldn't say the Z was any better in terms of build or material quality.

Keiths problem is he has had lots of bad luck with this car, his dealer has been an arse and I think he's just had enough, prefering to go back to something he feels more confident in (i.e. his old 1'er with no issues) rather than keep paying loads for a car he has lost faith in.

Agree you can get a wrong un with any car you buy and his seems to have issues but whos to say he wont get a 1er like mine I got ride of mine after one year because it was pissing me off although the engine was great for a die sal it just dident do it for me and I do do think the finish on the z is better. :| :|
