Decided to keep 224's & refurb what colour to choose?

Hi all,

After a long hard thought and worry about constantly having to refurbish 108's I have decided to stick with the 224's and get them refurbished.

I’m not sure what colour to go for, they are booked in to be done on the 30th and will be stripped and powder coated to a better than new standard.

I am either thinking Gunmetal/anthracite or standard silver, what are people’s thoughts; here is a pic of the car. (Minus black grilles and clear side indicators)

Gunmetal would look nice, i think anthracite is a bit too dark.

I thought Smoked / Black chrome would look nice too.

Mine are also being PowderCoated this Friday. I'm not sure Anthracite looks great on Black??
I'm wondering if a hybrid between generic silver and Anthracite might be worth a go?

If your car is dark go the opposite otherwise they get lost, loose all the detail.

Would silver be the best option on a black car then?

I think so its personal preference, I thought they were cool, had my 224s redone in gunmetal grey and have black gloss wheels on my Mini CS and not only have they scratched more than usual but they get lost looks like the car has no wheels. Also when they get the smallest amount of dirt they go really dull as you can see below. If you keep them clean but its a pain.

Got the CSLs and they look awesome as is, always look shiny even when dirty.

Hyper silver, OEM BMW or shadow chrome would be my choice.

Mine are sparkling black.

If I get them refurb'd I'd go with black chrome or gunmetal.

they are matte graphite mate, sorry if the pics are a bit dark, phone camera isn't the best!

They do seem to suit that quite well, but I think the design looks a bit old on a zed. Especially on roadsters.

I had 'Black chrome' finish done on my black Jag. It takes away the bright silver, adds a clever deeper shade in the gaps of the wheel enhancing the shaded areas.



I think with a black car you need to either go black or a contrasting colour so you see the wheels, I don't think anthracites etc look right, they look fine on lighter body colour a white car for example
