Does the 35is have a different exhaust to the 35i then? I might just be making it up but, to me, it sounds different than my 35i? I'll have to go out over the weekend to compare... :D

Yes, has a 10db louder sports exhaust or similar
 
There's also a short wet-fart sound at the end of the 35is 'brrap'. Wots that all about?
If i had to describe it in words it would go something like:
Brrrraaapppppupup....frrrrrt

Yes, "short wet-fart sound" is the technical term.

You can produce it in a 35is in Sport+ by accelerating hard and then backing off quickly.

It used to be called 'over-run', I think.
