Decent outdoor Zed cover?

You are spot on. We bought a really top notch one for my wife's MX5 a few years ago. It took all the finish off the paint where it moved around and left hundreds of small scratches that we had to get machine polished out at a local body shop.
They also hold the moisture in so if the hood sweats and then it's -6 overnight (it happens a lot in Staffs) you can't get the bloody thing off.

Damn and blast I was just about to order a cabrio sheild waterproof half cover as I can't get the car in the garage so it will be outside all winter but now I am confused whether to get one or not! I was worried about moisture being trapped under it and then freezing!!!!
I use a Just Roadster half cover. Light and waterproof it has a zip up case to store it in and elastic pockets for each wing mirror which makes it easy to fit. Two elastic straps front and back keep it in place. £50 its a cheap way to keep rain from the hood motor. Some think the elastic straps will effect paintwork - no issues in a year and I feel better for trying to protect the hood motor. We shall see. . .
The Hamiltons cover is fleece lined with some special breathing holes etc - fully waterproof and does not scratch the paint work.
I have used it for a couple of years now and my motor is always kept polished and clean. My self and other friends + members of the car trade (with a lot more expensive motors than mine) - swear by these covers.
Basically my motor is pretty much kept immaculate and stays that way when covered. no scratches, no marks, no water gets through. Its tied with plastic clips around the middle but ive added para chord ties to the 4 corners. it hasn't ever blown off, and thats through some serious winds which have taken out the garden fence!
just sayin' - might help someone decide.
