Wow some really nice pics this month, and a few non-Z4 now too

bingboybri, the quattro looks so dated now but I remember moving house, and the neighbours had one that was only a year or so old, I used to love that car.

i know what ya mean about it looking dated, its been my fav car ive owned, loved the way it spoke to ya(but the old rovers used to do that too!!) its was imaculate when i got it and had a service history as thick as a phone book
id have another one anyday
not as quick as my zed or as sophisticated but it was a classic

Yeah it looks immaculate in the pic. Good ones must be few and far between now, IIRC the one I was talking about was an F reg. At the time, they were expensive cars too. Not that fast now, but 25 years ago they were awesome.

that f reg would have been the 20 valve one, mine was an 1984 on an a reg and only a 10 valve,it was 200 or 220 brake i cant remember and not all that fast as it was a big heavy car but boy did the 5 cylinder sound awsome,i saw it for sale 4 years after i sold it for 500 pound more than i let it go for......

Yep I was going to say that if you still had it, as long as you looked after it and didn't drive it too much then it would probably start appreciating in value. Legendary car, and when you look at the S2 that replaced it - I never liked the S2, just didn't look right at all.

bingboybri - love the UR Quattro.

I have some friends in the NW area Audi club who have rebuilt the engines in those things and gotten up to around 325+ hp out of the old 5 cylinder engines. I have chased them around the track for more than a few laps and they are awfully hard to keep up with. I hope your found a good home - those critters are classics anymore..

thanks AlanL...... it went to a good home,a tax inspector from the west of scotland bought it... he didnt even drive it before he handed over his hard earned!!

wondermike.... it was on classic insurance so i could only do 5k a year in it and one year it only did 1.2 miles!!

AlanL. i kept the car totaly standard with no mods except for an after marked exhaust manifold as the origional cast iron ones were very heavy and prone to cracking ... it even had the origional pirelli's on it!!!
when i said earlyer it was slow i ment slow by modern standards but it was quit nippy and stuck to the road like chit to a blanket!!

im trying to remember....... it must have been 1999 i got rid of it as the impreza i bought after i sold it was 3 years old and that was a 1996 on a n plate and the quattro had 30k ish i think,it was a bankers car who drove it to europe every now and again to go ski'n.....

30k in 99??? You don't need me to tell you this, but you should have kept it - would definitely be appreciating now. Never mind - hindsight, great isn't it

When you say 1.2 miles, you mean 1.2 thousand? O/T - do you live right in Edinburgh, or outside?

no i mean it did 1.2 miles that whole year........i had a van i ran about in...... i live on the outskirts, beside the airport....u know edinburgh? and yeah i do think now i maybe should have kept it but i was young and dumb and the jap import bug griped me and all i wanted was to be the fastest kid on the block........ which i was with the wrx v limited..........

LOL 1.2 miles :D

Yep I know Edinburgh (ish) - I'm from further North originally, and the company I work for has the head office in Edinburgh Park so I go up from time to time for courses and meetings, but I usually stay around the Corstorphine area and don't get time to do much else. I was up about 4 weeks ago, when the Queensferry Rd was shut down to a single lane with traffic lights, bit of a nightmare really, what were they thinking  My dad was back from NZ too, and he was staying down at Crammond in some travellers hostel place too, so we had a couple of nights there.
