Decat pipe options

Giving some thought to doing a decat and performance system on my car. Seems that there is far more choice on decat pipes than there are exhaust systems.

Some of the piles range from silly cheap all the way to silly expensive.

Currently considering this pipe

If anybody has any thoughts / experiences on this pipe, or recommendations for a better one I would very much be interested in hearing from you.

Cheers, Paul

I recently purchased a cat back Supersprint exhaust off one of the forum’s members and have now ordered directly from Supersprint UK a decat down-pipe but due to the current circumstances we are enduring it may be a while before I can get it fitted and the obvious remap that will be needed done. Supersprint are top quality but for that they also come with a price tag to match

You purchase the system that I was going after. Unfortunately I put my bid in too low. The price of super sprint system is crazy money, and having never owned one or heard / experienced one I was reluctant to spend the money. Almost 2k for a super sprint decat and full system 😬.

How do you find the sound of it compared to the original one?

It sounds much better...it has a deeper tone that takes away the tin can sound of the OEM system. I am very pleased with it but obviously the addition of the decat pipe will change the sound again but hopefully enhance it even more

Does it have a oem style valve in the exhaust, or is that done away with entirely?

Ive got a supersprint powerloop system on my M. It sounds incredible, no drown in the cabin just pure bliss. A decat could be on the cards for mine if you are happy with yours when fitted. Be interested to hear if you get any additional pops and bangs with it fitted :)

I just wondered if you had fitted the part from ultimate bhp? How does your Zed sound? Very interested if it was a direct replacement or if you had to buy additional items. :D

If you remove the front CAT do you get any error messages / engine issues?

How does the emissions change as a result?

Evidently the post cat lambda flags up a light (that can be coded out) I’ve also heard of the lambda being spaced out with thick washers to stop it protruding into the exhaust as far.

I haven’t placed an order for the part as yet. The next job will be to sort out the inoperative roof before I do anything else to her.

The car will need to have the lambda sensor coded out once the decat is fitted, but any good tuning company should be able to help you with that.

I have been told that the pops and bangs are significantly increased with a decat, and depending on the state of tune, the occasional flame on gear change can occur. Not really sure that’s for me, but we will see. I will keep the post updated.

You want to avoid using washers, it works for older vehicles but on modern cars the secondary sensors are used for calibration of the primary sensors. Using washers as an offset to get the sensor out of the exhaust flow will cause fuelling problems.

Has anyone actual decatted their E89 N20 4 Pot? I'm considering it ahead of a remap I'm plotting, so I'm interested to hear opinions on this.

Twin turbo did his, had trouble sourcing a decat pipe so purchased an oem one and broke the cat out.
Think his car dyno’d at 311bhp?

Not a bad idea that. I wonder what effect if had on throttle response and exhaust noise/note.
Has anyone actually took the plunge on the ebay one at the start of this thread?
