Debadge side or not?

Really can't decide whether or not to remove the 3.0i badges at the side repeaters. What do you guys reckon? If I was to remove them and after a while changed my mind, how do you fit them again in the right place?!

Why would they need to go back in the same place. If you can't tell no one else can either.

I took my 3.0Si badges off - makes the wing look a lot cleaner, not least because there's less places for wax an polish to get stuck... But IMO it just allows the lines of the car to stand out more by smoothing the wing.

As for positioning, take photos. Then if you want them back tbh you'd be as well buying new ones off eBay for a few quid as they will have the adhesive attached. It'd pi55 me right off having to strip all the old adhesive off the badges then bugger about cutting new stuff to fit. I still have mine though, as well as a bunch of other bots I have swapped off so's I can fill up the boot for any future buyer :D

FWIW, the proper location is specified in the TIS. Bottom of text level with the centre of the side indicator (align centre of text for ///M) and the rear edge 28mm (11mm for 3.0si, 36.5mm for ///M) measured from the intersection of door shut line and that same level line.

@Bing - Great minds think alike!

I think I am tending to agree with taking them off. Then like Bing says, if I fancy reversing it all I will just buy new ones and go by the TIS guidance on where they belong!

Any photos of your cars with them removed lads?

I did have some before and after shots, but can't find them... Here's a good angle though :

The 3.0i badge is going to removed. The pics have made up my mind. Considering removing the z4 badge on the back now too!

The Z4 boot badge removal is more successful on the Coupe as there's no external boot lock, ensuring a symmetrical rear end!

This is why I left mine on. Though you can buy lock covers I believe, which on a black car would work well as you won't see the rubber round the lock either. I just ran out of motivation :P

Well the 3.0i side badges are definitely coming off. Can always buy new ones if I ever change my mind. Z4 on rear I will think about.

Gives a much cleaner look IMO :)

Anybody any idea as to where i could find some of these 'lock covers'. Was searching before and had no luck :(

I coated my 3.0i badges with black Plasti-dip, well over a year ago and they still look great. Depends upon your car color though, I guess.

Not too bothered about those lock cover things. I did notice the tinted rear lights on sbtwister's link, might consider that! My 3rd brake light is tinted already, so might make the other clusters match.

3.0i badges come off easy enough? Bit of hot water and dental floss, the usual?

Yep, not sure I even used hot water. I used a little WD40 to loosen up the remnants of adhesive, then polish to remove the dirt and clean up.
