Dealership Warning

If you're driving and you get a puncture, then the light will come on to warn you. But if you roll over a nail in your driveway and then park up for the night, the system won't warn you in the morning that your tyre pressure has dropped 20psi overnight.

Also, a battery showing 'fully charged' is not the same as a battery that holds 'full charge'.

I did approx 800 miles the other week so would have thought the battery would be fully charged.
Got in the Zed about 2 days after getting back and thought it seemed sluggish turning the engine over.
The following day the Zed wouldn't start, put my Ctek charger on it overnight and it told me I had a full charge. Went off on the Edinburgh meet drove approx 100miles stopped for about 10 minutes and the Zed refused to start.
The following day at Hafords they told me the battery was only at 35% and as it was under warranty I drove away with a new battery.

So I guess what I'm saying is I agree with mmm-five the battery 'holding' the charge is not the same as being fully charged.

Got no comment the disappearing nail though..

Don't know about the battery, but £800 for two rear tyres fitted is daylight robbery :!:

Hindy - If it's as you say it's a criminal offence - best report them to the police to stop others being scammed.........

yes even if is showing 12.8 volts it does not mean it has the ampage necessary to be effective. as to the tyre then thats a different matter

I didn't think the tyre pressure monitors actually monitored the pressure. I thought it worked off a difference in wheel speeds of the 4 wheels that a flatter tyre would cause ... Or sonething like that ish ?

Tyre pressure monitor works by measuring the difference in the rotational speed of the wheels. A flat tyre (even a run flat) is a smaller diameter and therefore has to turn faster to keep up. System senses this and turns the light on.

There are tolerances as with anything. You pump the tyres up then set the learn mode using the onboard computer. Thereafter it will only report when the rotational difference exceeds the tolerance level. A very slow puncture (eg a well sealed nail embedded in the tread) would therefore take some time to show up.

My stealer tried to tell me that buying tyres from someone other than them for my X1 4x4 would cause axle wind up. Really? On a 4x4 designed for road use? I don't think so. Complete bull doodoo.

As for batteries, a charger will tell you the battery is full when it won't accept any more charge. That doesn't mean it's in good condition. It can be almost totally knackered and still fully charged.

Maybe find a good independent mechanic. I know of one in Covina, CA. His name is ED. Cheaper and friendlier.

Well the best protest is never give anymore of your money.

Hopefully your warning will prevent them stinging anyone else

Yeah but the cost of getting there might be a bit prohibitive from Preston CoolZ4

My relationship with this dealer never really started when they refused me a test drive of an MC when I was looking a while back.... In some ways I'm glad because despite them being close to me it led me to discover Batemans
