Dealers - is it to much to ask?

Had my car in at the local BMW dealer to fix a lights issue, they replaced the light switch and light control module. Picked it up an hour ago and not happy. :x
The little bit of trim that the light switch sits on isnt sat flush with the dash, at the steering wheel side end there is a 3-4mm gap as it sits proud of the dash.
The air intakes on each side of the front bumper have a little piece of plastic which havles the gap if you look from the front of the car into the intake, one side is missing.
The little plastic plugs which hold the inner panels in place have been ragged to bits, one side has one plug which just spins and doesnt tighten (yes i did look at the plugs before it went in the dealer as i was going to take the panel off but didnt bother in the end).

Is it really to much to ask for them to fix the fault (fault does seem to be fixed though, hallelujah) and return the car to the state it was given to them in?
I've had the same things with other dealers of other brands to be fair but expected more of a "prestige" car dealer. :headbang:

Unfortunately I think it's the same with all brands now. Customer Service is officially dead.

I hope you can get back to actually enjoying it soon!

I had the same kind of issue. Roof sensor needed relacing requiring the roof be removed. Issue fixed and got a x3 as a loaner but grease spots on the windows and paint in the back when I picked up in the dark. Piece of plastic left inside the car that I still can't figure out where it went. For $125/hr I just expected more. BTW they covered under warranty so I guess I'm just being picky.

No it's not, but it would appear that it is, if your not happy go to another stealer and tell the one that you were using why you won't be back. It probably won't do any good but may make you feel better.

I've never really left a garage happy.

Thats why I buy older cars and do as much DIY as possible. Just bought my own automatic tyre machine to save retards scratching my alloy wheels.

DIY is the way forward. I guess if people mentioned crap service they would pull their act together, but people just seem happy to be done over a bit... and I'll admit to not saying when bad work has been done.
Often jobs are only done right when you stand over people like a hawk, but then you may as well DIY :)

DIY would be nice but i dont have the time to diagnose faults and the parts i have had replaced needed the car re-programming to accept them.

Its just basics really, put it back how you found it (ie trim) and dont leave bits missing, if they cant even do that then i'd hate to see how they do even on a slightly more complicated job.

As a nation ,we dont complain enough and we should, its the only way to ensure good service, i would take it back or inform BMW UK about your issues.

OK car is now sorted and i'm happy.

Both the plastic inner panels for the air intakes and the light access have been replaced with new items and the trim has been fitted properly.
Will give the dealer another chance in future and put this down to bad luck, i've got one work collegue who has had 3 x 3 series from them in the past and had nothing put praise for them.
