Dealer visits

I get on okay in the Dumfries BMW. Have a nice chat with Rob the salesman if he is in, and the service department check the key in seconds, never a problem.

My dress sense is not great, sloppy joes and an old T shirt usually.

I use an indi for the service work on my T4 VW Caravelle, I think they charge about the same as the VW dealership. So going indi does not always save you money.

'Dress code to buy a car at dealership' i haven't laughed so much. Tears rolling down! If you've got 50k in your pocket, they couldn't care less if you were in your wife's underwear. Porsche, bmw, anyone!

Sales people do make assumptions.
A friend years ago wanted to get rid of his Punto that he had to save money. He went to the same garage that he bought the punto and asked about trading for something sporty, he fancied an MGF.
The salesman laughed at him and said he had delusions of grandeur.
My friend was a manager quite high up in the local authority.
