Dealer Service Advice

So... When purchasing my Zed last week from a local Suzuki main dealer (not a backstreet chancer) I did so on the understanding that all foreseeable costs for a year would be covered i.e. MOT done, tax paid for and a service to bring the car up to speed for 12 months. In return I paid top dollar for what is a very clean 53 example with low miles.

In short they gave me the car without the service being done but never said a such and for some reason thought I wouldn't twig that the brake fluid and engine oil are now 4 years old! (Only 5500 miles old though)

It's going back in on Monday but tbh I don't trust em as far as I could throw em! Is there anyway short of actually watching them that I can check they do what I will 'demand' (very politely) them to do ?

Also, the hood folds and unfolds fine apart from the first part of going down where it needs a slight push and I have told them they will need to look at that as it happened the day I picked it up. I can't see that it is a flooded motor could it be anything else?

Other than that the car is awesome haha!

This is a good example of why low mileage cars aren't always a good idea. I'd rather have a high miler that had been regularly serviced.

Personally I wouldn't go near a car that hadn't had a service for 4 years, but that's just me..

I hope you get it sorted and have no problems though :)

All should be good once it gets what it needs, just another example of car dealers thinking they can lie and get away with murder!

Another Johnny Marr fan here!

If you want to watch it done, tell them they had a chance to do it and didn;t so you will be watching them.
If they say you can;t go in the workshop, and they do MOT's ask them to do the work in the MOT bay (if they do MOT's, they legally have to have a MOT viewing area)
And make sure they bring you at least two coffees.

A few years ago I bought a car, like you from a Suzy Dealer, (it was a suzuki :bag:) and as part of the deal got the install of my aftermarket cd player and speakers thrown in. I bought a good set of speakers for the fronts, and a cheaper set for the rears.
Of course, even though they were labelled they put them in the wrong way round.
So when I pointed this out to them (including the pics on the marked boxes, they said they would change them.
Two hours later I returned to an "All done!", checked and they were still the same.
Now I may or may not have said "Do I look like a f****** mug or something, you're just stood there blatantly lying to me" in a crowded showroom. He then got someone to actually swap them to swap them over.

So, yes you are completely reasonable to ask to watch the work being done.

Just as an update... The oil, filter, plugs, air filter and brake fluid were all done foc today. Got the stamps and signatures I wanted as well.

They have admitted the roof motor is finished (can't see how on a garaged car?) and they're calling BMW to arrange for it to be sorted.

I would make sure they do use BMW ,that way there will be a warranty
