Dealer Prices vs what you should pay

Just phoned the dealer, but the car is being test driven at the moment, damn why is it so hard to find the car you want!

Sales tactic? Why was the car being test driven only when you phoned and showed the interest?

I kind of hope so, so long as it's available, I can then calmn down and haggle price

If you ring them first, you lose (they have you).

In July I bought a coupe from Sopers in Lincoln.Did the deal over the phone including a part exchange on my mini clubman. Its a good way to get the best coupe you want. It meant travelling but we collected it and added on a few days break in Lincoln. It was a 200 mile journey.Staying for a few days meant if I found anything wrong I could take it back in.I agreed with the garage that if I found anything wrong I would not complete the deal, the same applied to the clubman. Dont worry about the distance if it means you get the right car.

well done........... look forward to the photos.... much better looking car than a boxter

Thanks, yes I always prefer the look of a Z4 to just about anything else for the money, I just thought it would be nice to have something different. But at least i know what to expect with a Z4. The Boxster sounds a money pit and not very reliable, where did porsche gain their reputation for reliability?

Can't wait untill weds now :)

Maybe you are right, but I needed to know before they closed, and when I rang the receptionist said he was busy with customers even before I gave my name so he may have genuinley been with someone?

Anyway the price was good (for a dealer) the right age and mileage, the price I got on my car was rubbish, but the reasons are mine does not have run flats, so they have to fit 4 tyres, my alloys are rusting, plus prices do seem to have dropped the last couple of days on roadsters, I confirmed this by checking parkers and my car is worth about £800 less than a few days ago!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I got fed up looking on the internet for cars so at least i have the car I want

I have just purchased a 58 plate 09 registered Coupe :)

They are delivering it to me on Weds :)

 You didn't hang about! Congrats on your new baby....colour?

Ha ha I know it seems that way but I have been looking every day for about 3 weeks now, almost giving up hope of finding a new(ish) manual car. It's Carbon Black with Red Oregon leather. 13K on the clock registered in Feb 2009 so just over 1 1/2 years old.

Can't wait i don't think it has sunk in yet as a bit surreal buying over the internet/phone rather than going into the stealer. I almost purchsed a private 58 plate yesterday but at the last miniute notices some dodgy paintwork, it may have been easy to sort, but I got cold feet with the whole private sale thing and backed out even though the HPI checked out OK.

Sounds ace, what's the full spec on it?

Not a great deal of spec but it has Bluetooth phone prep,Comfort package, (not sure what this is?) Composite Star Spoke 108 (looking forward to them rusting like my old ones, ha ha) Free UK Delivery, Metallic paint,Seat heating. front,Sun protection glass

Comfort package, (not sure what this is?)
rear parking sensors, auto wipers, auto headlights, multi-function steering wheel, auto-dimming rear view mirror and a storage net...these things may be present from other spec on the car depending on the model as well though

Thanks for that I should have really checked all this but I was mainly concentrating on the deal. Normally when you drive a car you see all these things for yourself. Glad it has parking sensors being a coupe.
