Dealer Mark up

Has anybody got any idea what the average Mark up a dealer puts on cars? if parkway are anything to go by its over 30 percent.

Knowing the offer that Sytner made on mine before I bought it and the price of their current stock with similar spec and milage, they would of been looking at a £7k mark up.

Not trying to justify the dealers hike in prices but my pal who works in sales at Bowker BMW says it can cost up to £1500 to "prep" a car once taken in via purchase or as a trade in
Apparently they have to "pay" the garage side of the business for any service or repair , tyres etc , then pay to have the car cleaned , touched up,painted & prepped for the forecourt then pay for the warranty the car is offered with + salesman's commision :o
He claims that many of their "turnover" vehicles make only £500 after all above taken into account
Not saying the smaller dealers will have the same expenses so they may make a bigger margin

There is a black se in warrington , I think it's fair to say that probably needs a bit spent on it to make it look like it should, it would have been interesting to drive it but apparently the salesman's lunch was more inportant than my appointment or the customers he was dealing with.
