What spec you thinking of getting?

Orion Silver, 294 alloys, PDC, and may have the DCT.

Have 108's on currant Z so I will avoid any polished alloy's

Looks like that dealership does not want my cash, will try elswhere.

Oh how quick we are to rubish the whole dealership because one person probably didn't pass your message on........!

293 is multi-spoke wheel, 294 is the split wheel (polished). I think you want 293, not the 294.

Not sure if the 294 is polished or not ?

And you are in which department?

I went in yesterday morning walked round for a while, some salesmen on phone others just sat at desks and never approached me, had to ask at reception for a brochure!!
I thought I would give them another chance that is why I rang later

I have had 4 new cars from them in the past.

Think painted rather than polished, still not sure if I would choose them or not. The 296s look ace but 19" tyres are expensive, and the ride...

But the reality is its a professional sales organisation, and COMPLETELY dependant on competent management of the customer interface. Everybody is accountable in that respect, so if one fails they all fail.....you can't have a weak link in the chain like that or you get what you deserve. I expect it from a double glazing company, but not someone I want to buy a £30k car from.

Its a sad fact that too many people in this country don't know how to give good service....and thats not about being obseqious or grovelling - you can do it without losing your dignity or feeling inferior, quite the opposite if you are acting like a professional.

I once went into a Nissan dealership to look at a Qashquai for my missus....on the way I stopped at the parts counter to get a thermostat for my 4x4. A thermostat mind you. The guy at the counter - who amazingly turned out to be the Parts Manager - asked for the reg number. "Had a private plate on it since Year Dot" says I.

"Nope" says he, "need the original reg".

"Can't remember" says I. "Can't you just advise me which one I need if I give you the full engine details?".

So he goes out the back and comes back five minutes later with a list he's gone to the trouble of printing off, listing every variant of this vehicle for the last 18 years. "There" he says triumphantly, "there are 22 variants there, which one would you like me to order???" in a very stroppy tone.

"Well" says I, "firstly, I'd expect you to use your expertise to advise me which one I need from the information I've already said I can provide you".

"Secondly, since you clearly can't do that, even an idiot like me can go down that list, discount all the petrol variants, all the non turbo diesel variants and all the ones that say NON-UK, which just leaves that one near the middle doesn't it?". "But I'd rather not bother - thanks a lot for your help".

At which point, in front of a queue of customers, I carefully screwed up his litle print out and dropped it pointedly on his desk. :x

I then went upstairs, asked to see the dealer principal and invited him down to the Parts dept where I recounted the story in front of the Parts w***er and explained how I would therefore not buy a car from them under any circumstances. As I left the DP was bawling out the Parts w***er.....and OK you can call me a drama queen, but when I'm spending my hard earned cash I expect good service and to be shown a modicum of respect. When you don't get it, it leaves a nasty taste - for the sake of a five quid thermostat they lost an 18k sale. Nice one.

I'll get me coat....

Hmmm......don't get me started on Hull's dealer,

Going back a few years they sold me an approved-used E46 328i which was only three years old at the time. The day after collection I discovered badly repaired accident damage and serious rusting on one of the rear wheel arches.

I tried to reject the car and get my old Z3 back - all to no avail.

They ended up respraying the affected side of the car four times in an effort to sort the problem, replacing the full rear quarter panel which was an angle grinder job :o

It was still a great car to drive, but boy did it cost them a lot of money :D - ended up being fitted with a new gearbox as it kept sticking in 5th.

Granted this was quite a few years ago now, and I have used them since on a number of occasions, but i'll never forget the above experience.

Rob.

Don't you just hate it when you walk into the dealers and just want to look round without being pestered but everytime you approach a car the sales staff pounce on you.....! It's a good job we are all different. :poke:

If they're this poor at returning a call from a customer who wants to give them some business, how good would you expect them to be when you're trying to get a call back regarding a problem.

Everyone has their off/busy/poor days and the message might have been passed on to someone who's just been fired/made redundant and couldn't care less.

Maybe they've met their monthly targets and would prefer to push this sale to the next month instead :P

Phew, thats one fate I've managed to escape so far! :D :D :D :D

And @ rew2208, sadly they would have been in the right legally as far as I am aware - I believe you're only obliged to reveal accident repair if specifically asked. But morally is another question, and if you managed to spot it quickly I'd have expected a decent BMW dealer to have done so as well, and either reveal the facts or have swallowed the problem and rectified it before putting it on sale.

Either way its a scuzzy thing to do.

Went to the doctors the other day, 9am appointment didn't get seen until 9.30am - never going there again. Last week it was the dentists (when you can find one) 10am appointment, seen at 10.45am - never going there again either. Wanted some stamps from the post office, went in 5 counters but only 2 people serving - it's the pits, will certainly not use them again. Minor accident at home at the weekend so went to the local hospital casualty - 4 hour wait to be seen, crossed that one of my list as well. Rule Britannia, Britannia Rules the Waves..... :fuelfire:

lacroupade - excellent post - i could not agree with you more on this. I get REALLY irate when people we entrust to be knowledgeable and thus helpful with our enquiries turn out be stuck up and obstructive and be all but helpful - i call them TEFLON!

Im glad you did what you did here and explained to the DT why - without feedback of this sort, these teflon people keep getting away with 5hitty customer service.

My nephew was having issues with his mobile after being sent a new one due to the last one being lost. His phone just didnt make or recieve calls/texts. He had spoken with VF cust services on many an occasion and he was told that the new phone he had been sent had a "bared" IMEI number associated to it - hence why it didnt work. No problem (well it was cos it should not have happened) but it did - but to resolve and move forward they would lift the bar within 48 hours. No compensation was offered nor did my nephew ask (he's 19, still learning :)). So 2 weeks on phone was still not working, i said "lets sort this out together" so rang VF cust services again from my phone and to our shock they said "oh yes, we are waiting on information from you - we need your OLD phones IMEI number" - we were like "errrm - " anyway, i wont go into all the details - but in the end we got it resolved - after 45 minutes on the phone. we also got him 4 months free line rental!!
