Dead battery

Hi all has anyone any ideas. Back end of last year came to car to start it after being stood for maybe 6weeks found it completely dead electrically. Put charger on battery and it showed it as having a fault.replaced it with correct battery and all seemed fine and gave it a good run . Went to it today and exactly same ,completely dead. battery charger showing fault.weirdly i checked the old battery and it will charge where it wouldnt previously. Any advice gratefully received

You say you replaced the battery with a correct battery, was it a new one?

What is the voltage of the battery when at rest? What is the voltage when the engine is running? How long between the last run and the battery going flat?
