when I got the car out of hibernation this year I replaced the origninal battery (56 reg) but haven't got it registered yet. Because of lockdown the car's only been doing relatively short journeys so I wasn't surprised that I went to start it yesterday and it was as dead as a Monty Python parrot. I jump started it and got it going but there was a regular (every 20 seconds) quiet whirl sound with a clunk. I thought that something had got upset with the battery being flat and hoped it would go away - it didn't. Had a good drive, over 90 miles around the cotswolds and home and the sound was still there, even with the igniton off. I opened the passenger door and took out the umbrella that I keep next to the seat to listen to where exactly the noise was coming from... and it had stopped. Put the umbrella back and it started again! Where the umbrella sat was on top of the seat base up/down switch and was pushing it down
Oh well, lesson learned!
Still got to get the battery registered, anyone within 40 miles of Kidderminster got a Carly?
